Here are some details about the Smurfs' Christmas spin-off for the Blu-Ray / DVD release: Here’s what Kerner said about the 22-minute original movie being released on the DVD/Blu-ray:
“There’s a 22-minute original movie that we’re making right now with Image Works. It is all animated, that will come out—oh my goodness, the DVD comes out at Christmas! Imagine that. It is a Christmas-themed 22-23-minute piece that is just spectacular. One of the great conceits of it is that we enter—it’s a little bit of A Christmas Carol—we enter into the present world with the Smurfs that everyone will have known from our movie, the 3D photo-real Smurfs in a photo-real Smurfs village, the village that you all saw when you saw the film today. And then, when we go back, I don’t wanna give away too much, into Grouchy’s dream we’re now in the 2D world of the Smurfs, much more traditional in terms of what you would have originally seen in a Smurfs cartoon in that way, is a distant memory in that way, and then we go back into live-action again.”
This is going to be like the Kung-Fu Panda spin-off short: "The Secrets of the Furious Five". Here are some images from the special which first came as a bonus DVD for "Kung Fu Panda" double DVD pack, then on NBC TV on February 26, 2009, and then on its own solo DVD on March 24, 2009.

More Smurf DVDs were launched here in Brazil:

'The Smurfs and the Magic Flute' (DVD cover); the production is said to be American (1976) and the cover back tells the production was Hanna-Barbera's, what I don't believe; here's IMDB to take out any doubts.

'The Smurfs: Animals' (93')

"The Smurfs: Moral Lessons" (83');

"The Smurfs: Fairytales" (136').

Look what I got in the mail today!

And here be some photos. This is what the front of the book looks like after you take it out of the main box.

The front page artwork of the book:
What one of the pages in the book looks like, and how the discs are stored:

An example of what the discs look like, they all have pretty much the same image style:

And the back page:

I haven't had a chance to watch any of the DVDs themselves, but when I do I'll comment on the picture quality.

'Tis the Season to Be Smurfy this Christmas here in the UK - a festive-themed Smurfs DVD will be released over here in November. It contains all four Christmas episodes from across the series, this includes The Smurfs Christmas Special, Tis The Season to Be Smurfy, Baby's First Christmas, and The Magic Sack of Mr. Nicholas. I won't need to pick this up as I will have the complete series on DVD in November, having now pre-ordered my copy of the Ultimate Collection 2. But I think the cover art for this DVD is very smurfy indeed.

Believe me, the UK releases are not all that good. Despite me giving very good reviews for them regarding picture and audio quality, both season box sets, particularly Season 1, are problematic. I've been through three copies of Season 1, one of which I had to send back due to a faulty Disc 3. But on the last two copies I had, Discs 1 and 4 have picked up some really odd, sticky residue on the play sides. I have cleaned them both but it keeps coming back. Season 2 has the same problem that the Season 1 set had, I've bought it twice and both times it has arrived with discs falling out of place in the post, leaving scratches on at least one disc. That plus the fact that the UK Season 2 set does not contain the Johan and Peewit episodes. The mammoth Australian DVD set on the other hand, is excellent. It contains all the episodes from Seasons 1-5, including some of the J+P episodes on a separate disc, with the same excellent remasters that the UK discs have. It is still available on some Australian sites, so if you have over $100, or whatever currency your country uses, to spare, this is the set you want.

hello just a quick question about the Autralian Ultimate dvd boxes. how is the picture quality there? like other Australian releases? or a remasted version like the US first season that was super quality.
1 more question. does the Autralian Ultimate dvd boxes has different intros for the seasons? or it has the same intro to all the episodes of all seasons?
thanks in advance for the info and have a smurfy day

Gargamel could have played Scrooge, but no one wants to see Gargamel turn good...it would spoil the series!

BlueTiger10- I abso-smurfly agree with you, Debbie. Because Gargamel will always be a villain, so Grouchy is the obvious choice.
