It is interesting that the voice actress for Smurfette is not Katey Perry, but the other voice actors are the same as in the film.

Well, Onesimos, maybe it's because that Katy Perry is busy with other things like music, concerts and songs. Still, Brainy is voiced by Fred Armisen, Grouchy by George Lopez, Clumsy by Anton Yelchin, and Hefty by Gary Basaraba.

Papa Smurf also gets a different voice in the video feature with voice actor veteran Jack Angel.

Surprisingly, judging from the preview of the special, Jack Angel's Papa Smurf voice seems similar to that of Jonathan Winters'.

Yup, that's a funny thing about voice-overs. Blake Clark replaced the late Jim Varney's voice for Slinky in Toy Story 3, Martin Lawrence and Ashton Kutcher were replaced by Joel McHale as Elliot and Mike Epps as Boog in Sony Pictures Animation's Open Season 2, and P!nk is taking the late Brittany Murphy's place in the new movie: "Happy Feet Two". So you never know whether it is either the same voice or a different actor prior to replacements, budgets or actors who pass on.

For a videogame example, in the currently-released Batman: Arkham City, Tara Strong replaced Arleen Sorkin as the voice of Harley Quinn, yet she does such an amazing imitation of Arleen's Harley Quinn voice it's hard to tell the difference.
I guess if somebody can pull off such an indistinguishable imitation of a previous voice actor's voice for a character, then the switch wouldn't be a problem. It's only a problem when there's an obvious glaring difference between voice actors when a switch is made, like with whoever did the voices of Gargamel's ancestors in Season 9 of the Smurfs cartoon show when Paul Winchell walked off the show.

I understand, VicGeorge. We can always tell who's who and who sounds alike. Just like when Frankie Muniz once voiced Chester, before he was replaced by voice actor Jason Marsden when Muniz's voice changed in the Fairly OddParents on Nickelodeon.

Michael Bell did Gargamel's Ancestors. It seems that Paul was starting to get gravely ill at that point if I remember correctly.

Point taken.

The entire nine seasons in one box set would cost you the life savings of the rent of your house.
I remembered seeing a Friends DVD ultimate Set for more than $200.00

The Australians sets have the same masters that the UK and US DVDs do, which must be new or at least very up to date masters because generally they look very good. And I haven't been through every single episode yet, but I've had a quick look and it looks like all of Seasons 1-8 all have the same intro, but there's two different jingles with them, and it varies which episodes have which. Only Season 9 retains its original intro.
Also, another heads up for UK fans, there's a new budget-priced DVD up for pre-order now, named "4 Valentines Favourites For The One You Smurf!"
My Smurfy Valentine DVD - 4 Valentines Favourites For The One You Smurf!
As you might expect, they're all love-themed episodes. There's no word on what four episodes will be on the disc yet, but these are my predictions:
"My Smurfy Valentine" - The clue is in the title. This has to be on the disc. "Romeo and Smurfette" - I would expect this to be on there too. "Handy's Sweetheart" - If they don't put this one on the DVD then they are mad. "Smurfily Ever After" - They'd be mad not to include this one too. I think a few weddings were planned, or nearly happened, in some episodes, but to my knowledge, this is the only episode where a wedding was the central theme and the bride and groom to be did actually get married.

Anyways for a month or so after Christmas, I'll be reviewing the Ultimate Collection box sets, as well as having some thoughts about making a video review of both of them for each box set page in Amazon, to give in some information about the packaging, details and most importantly - quality of episodes/seasons. (Which also give in some recommendation to any fan of The Smurfs)
So what do you Smurfs think? Good idea eh?

FURTHER UPDATE: I just got up this morning and browsing on Facebook, when I finally got the answer about the details on the forthcoming UK DVD from Fabulous Films. Unfortunately that's the point where I was left unsure what to think of it next, but that's it.
The actual episodes on the DVD (Two of them were guessed right) were: 1. My Smurfy Valentine 2. Romeo and Smurfette 3. Smurfette's Dancing Shoes and 4. Papa's Wedding Day (Hang on? Wasn't this already in another compilation DVD for the UK called '4 Smurf-tastic Episodes'?)
For proof; here's my post to the DVD distributor itself in regards of the DVD:

So I had to admit Rocker Smurf, that some people do get mad if neither 'Handy's Sweetheart' nor 'Smurfily Ever After' were confirmed to be on the valentine related DVD as we thought they're meant to be.
And lastly if anyone thought this was a joke - No it actually wasn't. (Although I'd wish it had to be)
But still as far as we all know that most of us like Rocker Smurf and myself (when I open the presents on Christmas day) had both got 'Ultimate Collection' DVD box sets from Australia and we're happy with it as it has the entire series from the beginning to end.
Have a smurfy day. Daniel Coffey (Clumsy_1991)

FURTHER UPDATE: I've just recently found the front cover of the upcoming Smurfs DVD for the UK which is officially titled as;
My Smurfy Valentine: 4 Valentines Favourites For The one you Smurf!

Even though I wouldn't be that bothered to get the DVD, as I had already soon be getting the entire series on DVD from Australia for Christmas, the cover seems to look so smurfy too. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)
