IMPORANT MESSAGE: For those who got their copies of "Ultimate Collection 2" box set, I have noticed that one certain episode had been missing and that's "Lost in the Ages". (Although it had been included in another Australian DVD called "Time Travellers" with all season 9 episodes)
So I have emailed Magna about the issue a couple of days ago, and from two nights ago, I got a response.
So here it is: "I’ve also looked into the issue you raised about the missing episode “Lost in the Ages”. We were originally advised that the 3 part episode was combined, but as you mentioned this is not the case. We are now looking at whether this can be added and still fit on the disc without compromising on the picture quality.
If this can be done then this will be updated for the Season 9 launch late this year and could replace the Ultimate Collection disc that you have (we would send you a free copy of the disc when available).
The only issue we have is that the book episode list won’t match the disc unless we are able to combine all 3 parts, which we may not be able to get approval from the licensor on.
I will come back to you later once we have looked into it further."
Speaking of the launch date, for those in Australia; so far 6 individual seasons of the Smurfs had been out on DVD, each separately from Ultimate Collection box sets.
And the last three are definitely coming out later this year.
So I hope that will had us understood about the issue of the missing episode. (Which would eventually be included for 3 part episode of "The Smurfs That Time Forgot" for the release of Season 9 late this year.)

I hadn't realised that a Season 9 episode was missing from the Australian set! Thanks for the heads up! And will you keep us up to date on whether the problem can be fixed and if a replacement program will be put in place?

@Jokey Smurf22 Thanks.
@Rocker Smurf And one last thing - if you would like the replacement disc by the time the issue would eventually be fixed, I'm quite certain Magna Home Entertainment would be very glad to send the replacement disc to you too. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

Here's the poster for smurfs participation on children's day!
Translated: "This year children's day the smurfs are ready to bring fun and happiness to all kiddies! With many activities and smurfy prizes from smurfs at B2S stores at central world,Ladphrao,Bangna and Rama 9 branches. On Saturday January 14 and Sunday January 15 2012!" *Information shown here are subject to change without notice. I just look at the thai edition of the smurfs blu-ray it licensed and distributed by MVD (Pacific) It's not by Sony home entertainment which is a bit weird and it also the reason why MVD can't get the exclusive content like US edition does which is the disney quality mini-movie: The Smurfs a Christmas carol. But luckily i already downloaded the leaked finished version of it so that's ok i'll just have to deal with it's sub-DVD quality.

Fabulous Films just announced on their Facebook that there will be two new Smurfs DVDs released in the UK this year. The first of which is titled "The Smurfs Springtime Special, and Other Easter Favourites", which will be released 26th March, and the other is titled "The Smurfic Games, and Other Favourite Sporting Episodes", which will be released in June, presumably because of the London Olympics around this time. I have to say, I have no idea what other episodes they could put on these DVDs. I cannot think of any other Easter or sports related episodes, at least not off the top of my head right now. Any ideas?

I'm glad to see The Smurfic Games is getting the DVD treatment, even if it's not an American release.

For the fans of "The Smurfs" in Australia, here's the link to the forthcoming DVD releasing in April; http://www.ezydvd.com.au/DVD/smurfs-the-specials-collection/dp/6110632
And to be honest, from what I see in the product description, the DVD will definitely containing the specials from the cartoon show. These ones such as "The Smurfs Springtime Special", "Smurfily Ever After", "The Smurfs Christmas Special" and more.

I wonder what the last four episodes in the PAL DVD release (The Golden Smurf Award, Jokey's Shadow, Predicable Smurfs, and Smoogle Sings The Blues) have anything to do with Easter. Many of the mentioned episodes have to do with the beginning of spring.

To be precisely honest, Easter is the part of good times in spring around April every year.
And thus, there are plenty of episodes with the theme of spring are very well chosen for the PAL DVD.
Hope this should helps. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

From a couple of hours ago, I have found out that "The Smurfic Games" DVD have emerged into several UK retail sites, ready for pre-order.
Anyway here's the cover:
The Smurfic Games and Other Favourite Sporting Episodes Release date: 2nd July 2012
EPISODE CONTENTS: 1. The Smurfic Games (1984 Special) 2. Smurf Box Derby 3. Mud Wrestling Smurfs 4. The Most Unsmurfy Game 5. A Hole In Smurf 6. Karate Clumsy
LINK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/B0079K4YHY
P.S. As we know that this year is London Olympics 2012 in the same month as the DVD, so I guess that was a pretty good timing too. ^^

I'm happy that I got the Smurfs Season 2 set from the United Kingdom and that so far it works on my computer. But ugghh...it still feels rather cheap when you don't have the authentic Season 2 intro sequence (it's still Season 1 with the "carnival" music and the modern THE SMURFS logo), and there's no Johan and Peewit episodes included, either. Anyway, I'm glad to have most of Season 2 on DVD, even if I have to use my computer to watch it.

The boxarts for the PAL sets are quite misleading as the artstyle for both are from Studio Peyo and not from the Hanna-Barbara cartoon series. Not only that, but the Studio Peyo artstyle is contemporary, not from the 1980s.
It is a shame that the WB will not release any more box sets after Season One, as if it did, we should be seeing Season Four or Five by now.

Considering who is releasing the DVD sets in foreign markets, it's understandable that the distributors would use Studio Peyo artwork. WB, on the other hand, being the owners of Hanna-Barbera property, doesn't have an excuse in this regard. And they are allowing the release of episodes for download through Amazon Instant Video and Apples iTunes, but some of them are still the edit versions from the syndicated Smurfs Adventures and not the originals.

After several months of being out of stock, both mgrcentral and DevotedDVD has bought out five more copies of The Smurfs: Ultimate Collection 1 box set each on eBay - for those who wanted to complete their collection. (as well as Ultimate Collection 2, which is still available)
If some of you would like to buy either of those box sets, then you have to save your money - as well as to think when you would get it, because the stock might not be able to last anyway.
In the meantime you could still be able to find all six individual seasons of The Smurfs on DVD sets from eBay sellers in Australia. (which shipping them worldwide)

Smurfs: Complete Season 6 (Region 4 DVD) packaging problem While I finally have the Smurfs: Complete Season 6 (Region 4 DVD) set from Australia, what's preventing me from trying to enjoy this is that the disc tray packaging is terrible. Three of the discs are arranged in a manner so that it's nearly impossible to remove them from the tray without potentially damaging them. Magna Home Entertainment really needs to work on making disc tray packaging less of a hassle for people to get their discs out to play them.

Oakley, as far as Americans, just releasing the episodes through download streaming services such as Amazon Instant Video, iTunes, and Zune. Unfortunately, for unknown reasons, Season 2 episodes aren't available.
It's a good thing there's Video LAN, a media player program for Windows that bypasses the region codes of DVDs so that I can watch them on my computer.

Sorry streaming service is still an illegal service in Thailand. Since the DVD sales here are just not high enough to make the streaming service profitable. (Blu-ray are only for the rich) Majority of people here still watching video CD and VHS tapes. No offense,I still prefer the physical copy of the media but yeah when it comes to preservation nothing beats digital content.

Which are the best Aussie sets to get? The 2 full series sets or the separate full season sets? Regarding completeness, playability, extras and packaging, I mean.
