Heitor Pereira scoring the Smurfs
April 5, 2011
Heitor Pereira has been hired to score the upcoming film adaptation of The Smurfs. The film marks Sony Pictures Animation's first live-action/animated hyrbid film and stars Neil Patrick Harris, Hank Azaria and Sofia Vergara in the primary live-action roles. The film's voice talent includes Jonathan Winters, George Lopez, Alan Cummings and Katy Perry. The movie is directed by Raja Gosnell who has previously worked with Pereira on Disney's 2008 hit family movie Beverly Hills Chihuahua. The Smurfs were created in 1958 by Belgian cartoonist Pierre Culliford (aka Peyo) and have spawned numerous print and smallscreen incarnations, the most popular one in the United States being the Hanna-Barbera cartoon version. The movie will be released in 2D and 2D on July 29, 2011.
Pereira is coming off scoring his biggest hit of his career with last year's Despicable Me. The composer also has the romantic comedy A Little Bit of Heaven starring Kate Hudson, Gael Garcia Bernal, Whoopi Goldberg and Kathy Bates coming up. The film already premiered in the UK earlier this way and is still awaiting a domestic release date.

Watching this has got me even more excited for this film now. Others on IMDb and YouTube can slate it all they want, I don't care. I'm looking forward to it and that's all that matters.

The comment that Papa Smurf made to a question on whether the Smurfs drink coffee seems out of character and inappropriate.
Let us pray that even if the live-action film received mostly negative reviews that the Raspberry Foundation does not pick it as among the "worst" of 2011. I can imagine that it will bring up the issue of the voice acting of some of the Smurfs (esp. Smurfette) and the overall acting of the human characters (especially Gargamel).

Papa Smurf voiced by Jonathan Winters he's the only
veteran voice actor in this movie.
Others like Fred armisen,katy perry,anton yelchin,
alan cumming are also decent but nowhere near
the legend like jonathan winters.
I hope i can doing some voice work for Brainy...
