If a Smurf isn't wearing a hat, he's naked.

i agree, Daniel Coffey, that the movie can't possibly beat the charm of the charms of the original cartoon series, and i also prefer Lucille Bliss' voice over that of Katy Perry.
VicGeorge, love the naked smurf! <3

I did my brief review of The Smurfs at rottentomatoes.com http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_smurfs/reviews/#type=user&page=2 From scale 1 to 10 i give The Smurfs 6/10. Well the voice of smurfette from A Christmas Carol Was not Katy Perry voice and it so much better than Katy Perry voice. Her voice this time is right the middle between Lucille Bliss' and Katy Perry voice. I can described her voice as "Best of both worlds" Her name is Melissa Sturm.

In the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf story series, if a Smurf is that happy over not wearing a Smurf hat, it means that they are either totally crazy or just had...uh...

Just a thought on the CGI Smurfs, if I haven't said this already on the forum: when I was coming up with the idea of the Empath novel as far back as like 1986, I was imagining this story to be done in CGI, and given how well Sony Animation has done the CGI Smurfs -- perhaps even frighteningly so -- I think they would be perfect for a more visual depiction of the Empath story, because in my opinion, straight 2D animation really wouldn't do the story OR the character of Empath any justice. I mean, Empath's biggest problem is handling the fact that he is a Smurf and that he basically comes from a people who are not afraid of showing themselves as they are, short of being a complete nudist colony. To really emphasize how unnerving it must be for Empath to have to live with his own people like this everyday, with the taboos ingrained in his head through his years of living in Psychelia, there has to be some level of realism in the depiction of the Smurfs, which I think the CGI Smurfs from the movie have made so perfect for my story. It would definitely give weight to some of Empath's comments, like "YOU SMURFS ARE NOTHING BUT A BUNCH OF BACKWARD BLUE-SKINNED SAVAGES, AND WHAT'S WORSE IS THAT I HAPPEN TO BE BORN AS ONE OF YOU!"

i give the movie a 7.6/10 its a great movie but the voices of some characters sound weird to me compared to the ones in the cartoon

I've predicted that since Sony Pictures (Columbia, TriStar, Screen Gems, etc.) is affiliated with Starz channel for presenting their films, The Smurfs count as Sony Pictures Animation presented by Starz alongside "Open Season", "Surf's Up", "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" and more.
Eventually like with "Open Season" and "Meatballs", it could broadcast on Cartoon Network's FLICKS in the near future.
