No. The Smurfs are NOT time traveling in the new movie. It's a reboot.

Well, you better see it. This movie is a smashing success that I wanted to turn Smurfs reboot into an epic musical adventure comedy-drama in the same vein as The Lion King and sharing some plot from FernGully: The Last Rainforest. and is for Walt Disney Animation Studios, instead of Sony Pictures Animation (for Sony, That idea of a Smurfs reboot, I get that first in October 2013).

Who says that the Smurfs reboot needs to be a musical? Why can't they just have a comical adventure without the need to have it be exactly like a Disney movie, right down to having musical numbers?
As for that mock-up movie poster, that's what was wrong with the live-action/CGI-animated movie series...too much reliance on time travel and having the Smurfs go into the modern world just to have a story that the production crew can film on the budget they were given. Once was pretty much enough, and twice was pushing it. Going for three times is saying that they don't have the imagination to create anything more befitting of their original comic book and cartoon show adventures.

I agree with Vic completely here. For this reboot, let's just see the Smurfs in a comical adventure very much like in their comics and cartoon series in this full length feature film.

Bring on the REAL smurfs movie! I had enough of Sony playing it "safe" with The Smurfs, time to take chances with the third one it could brings a fresh new start to the franchise if they done it right. A teaser like Peanuts movie did few days ago would be nice too!

Because Tangled and Frozen has more Money, because it's Musical. Well, Wreck-It Ralph a non-musical film has earned 470 million, but Tangled has earned 590 million because of musical number.
I heared that Smurfs reboot will be just like Gnomeo and Juliet for Sony, did you know that this film, has fewer songs, no drama and has earned 193 million. because it's too childish and not for whole family.
Please change your heart from Sony Pictures Animation to Walt Disney Animation Studios and be good like Olaf the Snowman
or you'll be just like Woody in this deleted scene of Toy Story

Sorry, Oscar, but to be polite, I'm not kissing your little blue tail and going along with what you want. This is Sony's production and I'll let them do what they feel is right for the movie without being pressured by a lot of different swaying opinions. If it doesn't turn out the way certain people want it, then we'll just have to deal with it.

This is true, has many very expensive animations that received a higher budget and that became blockbusters But maybe one day someone decides not thinking about giving Smurf-Fans what they really want to see in theaters, A story based exactly on the cartoon and the stories of Peyo more without removing the Smurfs of his time, or else will have the members themselves Bluebuddies plan a good story, if think about working with animated films, I still think that someone had thought of Smurf-Fans and give really wHAT we want, but until there!

The problem with "giving fans what they want" is that fans aren't always in agreement with what they want, and sometimes what one group of fans want contradicts what another group of fans want. It's good for a production crew to be receptive of what the fans want, but there comes the point where the fans have to realize that they don't own the franchise, they don't have complete control of the production crew, and therefore they can't call the final shots of what goes into something that the crew is producing. If anything, the Culliford family most likely has the final say in what's going into the next Smurfs movie, and though we may not like what that final decision (and the final product) ends up being, we have to acknowledge where our limits are as far as being fans.

I think most fans would be in agreement if Sony just decided to base the film around a lot of their comics ideas. Make it like a motion picture comic. All the original elements the Smurfs were built upon in the comics. I would personally think that the movie would be based on the comic world that we all grew up to reading in the first place. Why not? That's what the Smurfs were originally created for. So just make a full length feature film out of some of the comics. Make the movie feel like we entered the Smurfs comics. I think that is the best explanation idea that takes everything back to the base. Why argue Pyeo's original inspiration?

"Back to the base" may end up being back to their 1958 roots as support characters for Johan and Peewit, when the Smurf Village was still in the barren forest known as the Cursed Land.

That's not what I meant, Vic, and you know it. Allow me to clarify. Back to the base when the Smurfs were established as main characters. Average out their story in the comics when they were at their peak of popularity before the cartoon television series. Don't be so difficult.

ENOUGH OF THE TIME TRAVEL!!! I'M SICK OF IT!!! TWO TIMES OF IT IS MORE THAN WHAT WE NEED!!!
And I'm not going to pay up to $10 for a movie ticket to see "Saturday Morning Cartoon Movie 2.0", where the quality is barely an improvement over the "limited animation" from the 1980s Hanna-Barbera studios.

Chill out Vic,Kelly barely revealed anything in his blog yet and that one hand drawn picture probably just a production sketch or some pre production works stuff, nothing significant here. And this Kelly guy seemed to really know where to draw the line, very professional way to reach to the fans and causal fans alike. We don't have this **** back with the first two movies people,a director who openly communicate s with fans!
