Smurfette sounds less of a dizzy Betty Boop and more of an annoying Britney Spears. Not sure about it.
The Grouchy voice I just can't identify with as Grouchy at all. I hope they haven't cut out his "I Hate" catchphrases too, and instead made him more Sarcastic than Grouchy. I hate the new Grouchy Gargamel though seems about as good as they're able to portray him. A shame they couldn't digitally snip off a little piece of Azriel's ear though, like in the series. He looks too much of a regular docile kitty, Azriel obviously had his ear bitten off in a scrap which emphasised his character.
I especially fear by one of the photos that they did the unthinkable and included The Smurfs doing a hip/hop rap scene. There may not be any Tra la la's throughout, or if so, hip-hop style which I would have to shut my ears and eyes to ![[Frown]](frown.gif)

I did not see this new trailer. Yet. Tales of the voyage have already spread through the Smurf Village. No one but a madman will ever steer away from this movie. BlueTiger10's word is everyone's word. Until my new documentary then....

They all look great. I especially love Brainy and Clumsy!!!
It's interesting that Papa is holding a blue berry. I wonder if it's supposed to be a smurfberry? I'm used to the smurfberries being red like in the cartoons! And they've updated Papa's bag too. In the cartoons he has a "carpet" bag but now he has a messenger-style bag... how modern! ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

Heh, heh. Well Sassette, I hope these new pictures will identify how the Smurfs will look like. Thanks for commenting about his new messenger bag, and I think that's a blueberry. (or is it?) I can hardly, hardly wait! Thanks for commenting.

Here are some more pictures of the new Smurf Movie toys that will be coming out in May 2011. The toys are made by Jakks Pacific and will released in different waves (similar to the Jakks Smurfs action figures). Below are the Smurfs from the first wave or "Wave 1" series.

Wow-wee-ka-zowie! I'm gonna tell FAO Schwarz to prepare for a Smurf-themed section at the Schleich section, and in the store foyer. This July and August. Thanks for the heads-up, Sassette! And this-coming Wednesday, I will go to Manahattan to complete my Smurfs documentary host sequences. As soon as I finish video-taping the host sequences, then I'll use movie-making software to mix some movie footage with B-roll footage of behind-the-scenes, interviews, news & television footage, and city locations. REMINDER: Six Flags Great Adventure Parks has a Smurf-themed contest for you to win a trip to Manhattan where the Smurfs movie was made. Here is the link: www.sixflags.com/national/footernav/smurfs.aspx
Enter the contest (plus visit Hot Topic) and you'll be in the Big Apple tonight! SMURF DOCUMENTARY to be completed on June 2011!!!!!

Hello friends! I have just made a storyboard of how the Macy's Holiday plush commercial looked like, with CGI Smurfs from the upcoming movie. Here it is.

Description: Papa Smurf and all the other Smurfs (Brainy, Grouchy, clumsy, Gutsy, Jokey, etc.) are outside of this box. Suddenly, Papa sees the door open, and says, "HIDE!" The Smurfs jump into the box, and close it up. One Smurf (I think it was Clumsy Smurf.) squeezes out of the box's hole-handle. Then we cut to the Smurf plush product this commercial is advertising, and then we see all the Smurfs on the kitchen counter going "Oooohhh..." in awe. So ends the advertisement.

Thanks, Sassette and BlueTiger (cute drawings and classy 3D glasses) for the pictures!! I simply loved Brainy's smile in close-up (by the way, his posture in the new trailer is quite alike to Macaulay Culkin's in "Home Alone". A borrowed idea, perhaps), Clumsy's photos and Grouchy's sullen expression - tough I still think the actor could well work his voice better; and I suppose "they" have realized to make him saying some sarcastic phrases all the time instead of his "I HATE (...)" usual attitude, in order to get him more "interesting". I HATE being a wet blanket but I don't think it was a rather good idea. Rocker, you guessed it, now I remember Farmer Smurf!! The plushes are very cute and the basic jointed figures look perfect, as well as the playset. Is that Clumsy riding a skateboard?

I love the look of those plushies, I already have Brainy, Smurfette and Papa Smurf but Grouchy, Clumsy and Gutsy will look great on my shelf alongside them. I also wonder if they'll make a Chef/Greedy Smurf plush, they seem to be featuring him quite a bit in the movie's merchandising, with the figures and play sets.
Also, I thought I might mention that I watched the Yogi Bear movie the other night, and despite the thrashing that it got from critics and many audiences, I quite enjoyed it. Sure it was dumb and a bit childish, but it's still a fun and inoffensive way to spend 1 hour and 15 minutes that keeps fairly true to the cartoon. Despite it not being made by the same people, watching Yogi Bear and liking it has given me renewed faith that although everyone seems to be treating the Smurfs just as harshly, this will turn out to be an entertaining movie.
