Gaming fans will be disheartened today at the news that a brand-new Smurf videogame for the Game Boy Color system has been canceled. The Game Boy Color platform has not seen a Smurf release since 1998.

The game, tentatively titled "The Smurfs Adventure", was a full color graphical role-playing adventure for Nintendo's portable color videogame system. Featuring breathtaking graphics and sound, the game is shelved "almost certainly", according to our source.

"The Smurfs Adventure" would have been the first ever sophisticated role playing adventure featuring the Smurfs on any platform. Although the graphics, design layout, and programming on the game are mostly complete, there is no intent to move forward with the project.
