I am wanting to be a smurf for halloween this year. I was inspired by the Saturday Night Live skit located http://www.milkandcookies.com/links/32030 Does anyone know how to make the hat/shoes? Is there a pattern or do I need to wing it? Please help.

I'm not sure if it's me, or there is something wrong with the page...but for some reason the Quickplay program doesn't work.
Sigh, oh well. I do however wish you luck on the smurf costume. It sounds like loads of fun
It reminds me of the time during one of my classes in a grade 6 talent show, one of the students actaully designed a smurf hat and lip synced with a group of his friends to one of his smurf tapes. They did really well, and I think won in the top three performers. I think it was more the fact that everyone was impressed he was able to design a hat out of some sort of bed sheet or other cloth, lol.
Take Care, Raven Child.

Hi Raven Child,
I would have loved to see a picture of your old schoolmate dressed up as a smurf! Actually, if anyone does have a photo dressed as a Smurf please let us see!
When I was in elementary school I had to do a gym routine and the students got to pick the music they wanted to use. Yup, you guessed it - I picked "You're a Pink Toothbrush" off of the Smurfing Sing Song Album. I dressed as a pink toothbrush and my friend as a blue toothbrush - we couldn't quite figure out the whole smurf costume part! LOL!
PS - Why doesn't anyone want to dress up as Gargamel for Halloween?
Happy Smurfing, Sassette

I was Smurfette for Halloween when I was 7. My friend was Papa Smurf and his little brother was Baby Smurf. His mom made us hats and shoe covers from white felt and my mom found some smurfy noses from a costume shop. We painted our faces blue and voila! We were smurfs! Good luck!

Thanks for sharing that link. That was just so bad and funny at the same time. And to top it all off, "a soundtrack by Celine Dion".
I generally don't do costumes, but I do wear a blue shirt and white gym pants from time to time as normal outerwear.

Update I found a pair of the Big Tennis Shoe House slippers that i spraypainted white for the shoes. I have got a pair of white sweatpants. I will be making the hat myself from a beanie aka skull cap with material and pollyfill and I also need to find the best body paint to use. Any suggestions on that one? I want to actually paint myself blue Hope i don't die from it all input is appreciated

Well, it's that time of year again... time to dress up as a Smurf for Halloween! Is anyone out there thinking of being a Smurf or Smurfette this year?
Remember Pepper and her Smurfette costume last year - it was sooo smurfy!

I used to love trick-or-treating! I bet this Grouchy Smurf costume won't help you get much candy though!

Update on Smurf costume. I have bought plain white baseball pants to use for the bottoms. I have bought Blue and White Theater Body Paint to mix and make my blue skin...That don't come off without elbow grease and petrolium jelly I have made a hat out of a Beany/skull cap with polyfill and white material Now for the shoes. Then my only problem is which one to be. GOSH! I have it narrowed down to Jokey, Hefty, or Vanity. Sooooo many choices.

Hi SilverMonkey!
Have you narrowed it down to the Smurf you want to be? Mmm... that is a tough choice. I wonder which Smurf would be the hardest to re-create in your costume? I guess you'd have to "act the part" as well.
Jokey - you just need to wrap up a square box with yellow paper and red ribbon. Hopefully you won't try to make it explode! Hefty- you can either draw a tattoo on your arm or use a store bought temporary tattoo. Would the tattoo go over/under your blue body paint? Or I guess you could carry a dumbbell/weight around! Vanity - you'd need a flower for the side of your hat and a mirror to carry with you.
Now you have me thinking about the other Smurfs too...
Brainy - you'd need thick black glasses and a book called, "Quotations by Brainy Smurf". Clumsy - that's a hard one. Maybe the Smurf hat slightly too big? Painter - carry a paint brush, palette of paints and maybe a Smurf painting. Grouchy - wear a frown all night long!
I'd better stop myself. LOL!
Let us know when you decide on the Smurf to be and thanks for all the great tips for creating the perfect Smurf Halloween Costume!
Keep Smurfing, Sassette
PS - If you take pictures, we'd love to see your smurf costume!

Hello All great progress [Smile]
Question - since there is a picture with a smurf.. more like mascott, - in your own gallery, then these things must at least be available. [Smile] Anyone care to direct us towards such a suit, or anyone care to sell ? [Smile]
Thanks,
adijr

Hi again!
adijr - the Smurf Mascot in the Gallery is from a European Theme-Park. You really don't see "official" Smurf Mascots for sale that often. This particular one was sold on eBay a couple of years ago. You might want to have a go at making your own Smurf costume...
 Smurfette Mascot
vanitysmurf - I LOOOOVE the idea that you'll be Gargamel this Halloween! The smurfs captured in the net is such a great idea! What are you doing for the outfit / clothing?
