Is that the one where the porridge pot got stuck on his head and he was wondering through the forest with a pot stuck over his head? I used to have this on tape but haven't in many years, but I still remember that image of Greedy with the pot over his head and I laugh and laugh every time I think of it. Funny stuff.
My favorite episode of the Smurfs growing up was always the Gingerbread Smurf, I think it was my mom's favorite as well because she loves gingerbread men. Then when the Masked Pie Smurfer came out that became my number one favorite and it still is to this day. The Gingerbread Smurf staying my second.
Oh my. I can't believe I forgot to mention Sweepy Smurf. Add that to my favorite list with The Gingerbread Smurf and The Masked Pie Smurfer. That is another of my all time favorites. After I saw Sweepy Smurf for the first time in late 1986 he became my favorite smurf character.

I think about how I watched so many TV toons as a kid, but when I look back to that era I don't remember the specific episodes of any of them as clearly as I do with the Smurfs.
That's gotta say something.
Anyway, I've been dying to see Smurfette's origin again. . . the fact that she went from brunette (evil) to blonde (good?) always fascinated me, even when I was 5 years old. Heh, I was the kind of girl that wanted my Barbies and Cabbage Patch Kids to have dark hair.
I used to have a comic version of Dreamy Smurf's space "flight," and I remember noticing the colors were all different.
I vividly remember the episode with Smurfette's mouse made me cry.
I'd totally forgotten about the whole purple Smurf thing until I found this site, and woah. . .I remember it freaked me out, LOL!
But yeah. . . as I look through episode lists, especially with the first three seasons or so, I'm like woah. . . I remember these. I'd love to see some offical DVD's get released in the US.

I like "Sassette's Tooth" the best- I DON'T like the episodes with Yohan and Peewee in it. I like the episodes with the Smurflings, Smurfette, Clumsy, and Bby in them too!

For me, it’s definitely the episode in which a comet lands on the house of clumsy smurf, and where they all think he’s dead… It’s so sad and yet beautiful! (I don’know the English title) Or the Olympic games (or whatever you call it ;-) ); the special episode where Brainy digs up a medallion which starts all kinds of trouble… And once again, Clumsy being the hero! The best episodes ever! Well, and all the other episodes as well, of course! ;-)

My first three favorites are Handy's Sweetheart, Marco Smurf and No Smurf is an Island because I've always enjoyed any cartoon with a mermaid character in it (hence my nickname "mersmurf"). I also enjoyed the Smurflings, Farmer's Genie and Clockwork Smurf.

It's "Clumsy Luck", from the 1983-84 season.

It's "The Smurfic Games", a cartoon special that aired around the time of the 1984 Summer Olympics. It's based on the comic book series of vignettes by the same name, though it's also combined with a story element from "Smurf Of One And Smurf A Dozen Of The Other" (from the same English comic book "The Smurfic Games" appeared in), where the Smurfs are divided over the use of compounded words.
To answer Tailor Smurf's questions about some episodes:
Grandpa Smurf first appeared in the four-part episode called "Smurfquest", which was the premiere episode for the 1986-87 season. This was where Grandpa Smurf along with Papa Smurf, Handy, Hefty, Greedy, and Sassette travelled around the world in a magic boot to find the four primal elements to re-power the Long Life Force Stone which kept the Smurfs from rapid aging. This episode, to my knowledge, hasn't appeared in syndication due to its being a multi-part episode (and neither has "Smurf On The Wild Side", which was the premiere episode for the 1987-88 season that introduced Wild Smurf), so your chances of finding this episode anywhere are slim and...very slim.
The Smurflings first appeared in both "The Smurflings" (which introduced them as three adult Smurfs turned into Smurflings...not one of my favorites, mind you!) and "Sassette", which showed the origin of Sassette (also not a favorite of mine). Both of them were premiere episodes for the 1985-86 season.

I really like the episodes "The Smurfette", "Bewitched, Bothered and Besmurfed", "Romeo ans Smurfette" (I loved Handy and Hefty's songs in that one), "King Smurf", "The Purple Smurfs", and "The Astrosmurf". One I can't recall the title of involved Farmer and Poet continually adjusting Handy's "Weather Smurfing Machine". Another I can't remember the name of had Gargamel accidentally turning himself into stone, and the other Smurfs shocked that Papa Smurf would insist on finding a way to cure him.

To Debbie: The actual titles of the two episodes in question are "Foul Weather Smurf" (the one that's based on "The Weather-Smurfing Machine" comic book story) and "For The Love Of Gargamel". The latter episode seems to be the one that inspired the creation of the original adult Nat Smurf character (though Nat wouldn't appear in the cartoon series until the 1983-84 season's "All Creatures Great And Smurf") due to the story's challenging moral to love even your enemies (a Biblical teaching from Matt 5:43-45). Ironically, though, "For The Love Of Gargamel" is also what touches off a sort of discontent among the Smurfs in the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf fanfiction novel, for most of them see Papa Smurf's action as rather "foolish" in that it only gives Gargamel another opportunity to destroy them -- and Gargamel's useage of the powerful Gauntlets of Gantharros near the end of that story ends up proving their point, showing how unrepentant Gargamel was in the light of the undeserved mercy he was shown by his adversaries.
For the music buffs out there, the cartoon special "The Smurfic Games" used a portion of Vangelis' theme music from the 1982 movie Chariots Of Fire during the foot race sequence where Clumsy is close to reaching the finish line.

Probably not mentioned in my previous post is that the episode "For The Love Of Gargamel" inspired the creation of my EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf short story "The Innocence Of A Smurf", where the issue of the morality of taking lives (or, in that episode's case, letting the lives of your enemies remain forever frozen in stone) is revisited in the tale of Empath trying to come to grips with having to confess that he was required to take the life of a Psyche during a training session during his final year of being in Psychelia, and what the consequences would be for a Smurf in that kind of situation. Interestingly, Papa Smurf plays two opposite roles here in that short story -- both as the one who makes Empath make a promise to never take a life even if it was required, and (during the fight where Empath hears a voice that sounds like Papa Smurf's) as the one who has Empath consider breaking the promise for the sake of his survival.
