CLUMSY [NARRATING]: Meanwhiles, Papa-- errrrrr... Russet, I mean, was a swimmin' in his favorite water hole... That's when Mersandra done ran into him the first time...

*Russet looks up at Mersandra. She realizes that he is a smurf...*
MERSANDRA: A Smurf??? Oh, no... No, no, no-no-no... This can't be... This is supposed to be the way home. Not straight into enemy territory.
RUSSET:[confused] Enemies? With us Smurfs??? Why would you not like a Smurf??
MERSANDRA: No no no... It's not like that... Well, kinda... *sigh* it's... Complicated... I'm Queen-- er... Soon-to-be-Queen Mersandra, of the Northeast Fairies. And you are???
RUSSET: I'm Russet Smurf, milady, and I am but a humble potato farmer from the Smurf Village.
MERSANDRA: Well, uh
.. Russet, it would be a pleasure to have met you, if it weren't for the law stating that I --nor any other Fairy from the Northeast Kingdom, for that matter-- is permitted to even be near a Smurf. So with that said, I have some very important escaping to do and a war to prevent. Good day.
*She tries to fly away, but falls flat on her face, her wings bent out of shape.*
RUSSET: Oh, no... Here, let me smurf you a hand there... *he offers his hand*
MERSANDRA: No! No, I'm fine. Look, uh, Russet, is that right? Anyway you seem to be a nice fellow, but I'm afraid that I just can't let you help me... *she hops up, as if to take flight, but the pain in her wings sends her to her knees, choking back tears.*

MERSANDRA: Tomorrow I am to be crowned the Queen of the Northeast Fairies... And today... The day before my coronation... I was snatched up by an evil pair of cold hearted souls and dragged out into the forest... And for what? SNAILS! Snails and war... Does that make any sense to you?? They've taken me to attempt to start a raging war between Fairies and Smurfs by making my people think that I was being held at ransom by a few rogue Smurfs...

RUSSET: These icy monarchs must have a craving for snails. It's been a long time since they ate one. But I wouldn't worry about it, as long as my Little Shellie is safe.

Cut back to the Ice King, who just discovered Shellie at a nearby tree.
ICE KING: There he is, my dear! This is the one we've been looking for!
DYNA-ICE: (grabs Shellie) Excellent work! Let's take it home and cook it up for ourselves!
The two monarchs walked off with Russet and Mersandra watching in fright.

RUSSET: We'll worry about your coronation later. Right now, we've got to save Shellie. Who knows what these strange monarchs can do to her?
CLUMSY SMURF (narrating): Russet is indeed right. What can these monarchy thingies do to poor Shellie the Snail? Ya'll soon see when we get back to the ice castle in the meanwhile!
BRAINY SMURF (off-screen): It's "meantime"!
CLUMSY SMURF (off-screen): Whatever...
Dyna-Ice and her husband return to the Ice Castle with little Shellie in fright. Dyna-Ice placed Shellie on the table.
DYNA-ICE: Escargot, at last!
ICE KING: Ah, yes. We've succeeded, my dear.

DYNA-ICE: Not quite, my love...
She snatches a fork from her husband's hand and then carries Shellie to a cage and tosses the scared little mollusk inside.
ICE KING: Um... What do you mean by that, dear? We've got a magnificently large snail here!
DYNA-ICE: Darling! Isn't it obvious??? The Smurf Village and the Fairy Kingdom both raise snails as livestock... Just as a farmer has his ox or mule, so do the Fairies and Smurfs....
ICE KING: Ok... So, uh... What was the point of capturing the princess??

DYNA-ICE: Yes, once little Princess Mersandra misses her coronation ceremony, the Fairies will get suspicious... Then they'll follow all the little bits of fake evidence that will cause them to believe that the kidnapping was done by a Smurf!
Dyna-Ice smiles viciously then facepalms as the Ice King proceeds to ask another question...
ICE KING: So... If they go to war, how does that get us our escargot???

CLUMSY (confused): Well, I... Uh, what'd'ya mean? Ain't that how the story ends??
BRAINY (visibly frustrated, to the point of nearly throwing off his hat): WHAT ABOUT PAPA SMURF AND MERSANDRA?!!? WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM???
CLUMSY: Ohhh.... Right!
(He returns to narrating, fade to an exhausted Russet(Papa) Smurf and Queen-to-be MERSANDRA, at the very edge of the Smurf village of Papa's youth....)
RUSSET: So, uh... Mersandra, is it?
MERSANDRA: That is correct... and I'm very sorry but I'm legally not even allowed to do so much as look at you, yet you have brought me to your village?! Don't you understand what my kingdom's soldiers could do to your people?
