Here's another art sample--a first look at my first full-color "Smurf Sampler" short story called Flower Power. Gargamel nets Smurfette while picking flowers, but she fights back, shattering her overly girly image and fiercely defending it at the same time. Don't ever call Smurfette a worm!

By the way, I colored this preview here at Disneyland. I mention that because I've read some fan chatter that Sony might be selling the rights to what's left of the film trilogy to Disney, after the disappointing performance of "Smurfs 2". If that really happens, that changes everything. You might be seeing Papa Smurf and Smurfette hanging out with Mickey and Minnie at the Magic Kingdom.

I just caught sight of this on DA. It could have been ripped from the storyboards of the old cartoon. Very funny. Nice work! ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

hahahahahahahahaha! Gargamel got beat up by a little smurf who also happens to be a GIRL! :-D
smurfsatthedisco your Azrael looks almost real enough to jump off the screen and attack someone! :-O
by the way all, if you find any misspellings, especially of names, please don't take it personally. i am always VERY careful to spell others names correctly. my keyboard is a cheap one though and doesn't respond very well. i keep noticing letters missing from names and words and backtracking to spell them right and i hope i never miss any and fail to correct them.

@ smurfsatthedisco: Great digital work on Azrael. It reminds me of an episode from the TV series in which Hefty accidentally grows to human size (of a young child, actually) no thanks to a magical magnifying formula. At the end, Azrael gets sprinkled with the formula and grows to the size of a tiger, gets a big grin and starts chasing Gargamel around the forest, roaring like a lion.
Smurfette: "Yeah, go Azrael go! Let him hear you ro-OOOOOAR!" (The other Smurfs groan) (Smiling) "Sorry, guys. I couldn't resist."

Here's another new Smurf drawing, actually a detail of a previous one, with Vexy and Sassette. Our friend Vexy is so happy to be adopted into the Smurf family, and even happier that Sassette has adopted her as her very own "smurfy aunty".
And yes, they're technically sisters, but I created a short but cute comic story that explains how and why just plain Vexy became Aunty Vexy to the freckled Smurfling. <3

Just did a pencil sketch of a tribute to Jonathan Winters, who played Grandpa in the TV series and Papa in the films. Six Smurfs are warmly remembering their funny friend--Papa, Grandpa, Smurfette, Vexy, Sassette and Jokey. They all have a connection to Johnny in one form or another. There are also references to his overall career, including "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" and "Mork and Mindy," for starters. It should be ready and uploaded in a day or two.

Will do. In the meantime, here's a clue to how all the different Smurfs have a connection to Winters:
Grampers.
Papa's Girl Friday and confidante in the two feature films.
Pappy.
A practical joker who's "always on."
Adopted into the Smurf family.
Grampy.
Have fun smurfing them out, kids.

This week I went to a taping of The Price Is Right at CBS Television City in Hollywood, and while in the audience waiting area I sketched up a cartoon where TPIR gets an extreme smurfover:

Narrator finally gets some respect as host Smurf (Drew) Carey; Smurfette and Vexy are the models ; Jokey is announcer George Graysmurf calling contestants to "Come on down!"; and Vexy is doing the familiar Price is Right model wrist-flip at the contestant behind the orange monitor who just won a bidding game.
This was created with Adobe Flash with a photo used as a backdrop. Smurf on down and give me your feedback. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

Here's another new Flash cartoon I drew up this afternoon. I call it "Vexy the Enforcer".

If Smurfette and Grey Smurfette, whom I nicknamed Cousin Jett, can't stop fighting over the different colors of their dresses, then the newest girl Smurf and resident warrior princess will make them make peace and play nice. Even if it means hog-tying them with their own hats.
Things are definitely a little different in Smurf Village now that Vex is in town. ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

In the Peyo comics, there is a cloned evil race called the Grey Smurfs that Papa Smurf magically created to remove the more violent tendencies from all his little Smurfs, including himself. They are identified by their grey hats rather than white and the grey pupils in their eyes. Smurfette's evil clone has a grey dress and black hair. I've nicknamed her Cousin Jett in reference to her jet-black hair, as have the other Smurfs since both girls are named Smurfette and that would cause confusion.
In my Smurf fan art and stories, I've toned down the Grey Smurfs' aggressiveness and made them natural-born Smurfs (brought by the stork) that had to separate from their brethren centuries ago for the sake of all Smurfdom. They have their own little village and over time have mellowed out and made peace with their white-hatted cousins. But they're still as grouchy as Grouchy, gutsy as Gutsy and aggressive as Vexy. Instead of an egret like Feathers, the Grey Smurfs fly around on (appropriately) black ravens. But the ravens are friendly.
Papa Smurf and his counterpart the Great Chief are cousins and enjoy each other's company.
Again, this is in my fan comics. They're nowhere this mellow in the official Peyo comics.

Okay, it's finally here: my tribute to Jonathan Winters. I had a lot of fun drawing this.

Besides being a smurfy tribute, it's also a puzzle game. What connection do each of the Smurfs in the tribute (Papa, Smurfette, Vexy, Sassette, Jokey and Grandpa) have with Winters? And what do the mementos on the table and in Jokey's surprise have to do with his career?
I was thinking about adding a seventh Smurf, Nanny, but decided not to. There's still room to add her in if anysmurf thinks she belongs there also.
Looking forward to your feedback.

Here's my latest drawing I just completed for the next chapter of my first Smurfs FanFic. The first is the black and white version as it will appear as the header for my fourth chapter, once I've finished writing it. The second is a colorized version.
