And here is our friend Vexy in full-on riot girl mode:

In a scene from my storyline "Fresh Snapper", Vexy blows her smurf when she catches Hackus trying to make sushi out of Snappy, who turned into a little fish. Hackus, however, is too hungry (and stupid) to realize that or get it through his smurf-headed skull.
This is an Adobe Flash drawing sketched up in less than ten minutes.

And now poor Vex is turning her anger onto me, because in my Smurf family portrait earlier, he whose Smurf name is actually Gutsy (the Scottish one) I called Husky. A little editing is in order for that picture, which I was planning to update anyway.
IMO late night host Craig Ferguson would be the ideal voice for Gutsy instead of current actor Alan Cummings, but I think Craig would consider it an insult. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

Per my last post, here is an updated drawing of The Smurf Ohana:

Annoying as he can sometimes be, Narrator now takes his place in the family, with a dark red suit and behind a smurfling who can't tell him to shut up. Vexy's outfit is changed to the purple and grey one I've drawn her with, and I correct Gutsy's name and the color of his kilt. I fill out more detail with Grandpa, Smoogle is now balancing on Clumsy's head, and Painter is giving Grouchy the Cartoon Network treatment with green paint (remember that 90's promo?)
Smurfing out loud: Rick Dees (husband of Sassette's voice Julie Dees) can be a great Narrator voice with his deep bass and feigned pomposity when getting silly with cartoon voices.

And the Smurfs just keep on coming...

An animation-type style sheet of Smurfette in various poses and expressions, with a "fan's eye view" of how she will be depicted in my work. Vexy is next.

Smurftastic! Interesting that Smurfette was the first Smurf you learned to draw as a child. Looking forward to Vexy...

@ Sassette: Thanks for the kind word. As for Smurfette being the first Smurf I learned to draw, it was the early 80's, I was in sixth grade, Smurf mania is in full swing, and I was discovering girls. 30 years later, I can now draw her and Vexy without the silly schoolboy crush and physiological issues preceding adult Smurfhood, so to speak.
I'll upload Vex later today or Saturday.

As promised, here's my "fan's eye view" style sheet for Vexy:

New hair color notwithstanding, this is how I am portraying "Vex" in my artwork and stories for this site. She's still a short-tempered riot grrl, but a lot smurfier and cuter. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

Two days ago my alma mater Chapman University took part in the Clothesline Project, an awareness campaign against sexual abuse and domestic violence that displays t-shirts decorated by survivors of abuse and the people that support them in their healing. Chapman displays this every semester and it's a powerful testimony to the pervasiveness of the issue.
I was so moved by the braveness of the survivors to move forward and heal that I created the below T-shirt featuring Smurfette:

This positive message of healing is now a permanent part of their collection. Many Christian girls have been abused and tortured by such perpetrators, and this is my (and her) smurfy way of standing with my sisters in their healing and moving forward.

Congrats on the DA account! I've followed you there. Hope to see more of your work. I also like your t-shirt design; nice showing of courage and faith in the midst of suffering.

Here's a first look at how the Smurfs would look in "The Smurf Wizard of Oz", a fan comic story I'm now actively developing:

Little Squeaky (what I call her) is Smurfette's second pet mousie from the original TV series.
If they make you want to give them a warm smurfy hug, I've accomplished my goal.
To be included are Narrator Smurf as the frequently interrupted storyteller (what else?), Hogatha as the Wicked Witch of the West, the Smurflings and kid versions of the adult Smurfs as the Munchkins, Azrael clones as the Flying Felines (instead of wings like the Flying Monkeys, they have strapped to their backs helicopter engines and rotors that are prone to malfunction; good thing they can land on all fours), and Nanny, Grandpa and Handy as the attendants helping prep our friends for their appearance before the Wizard.

Thanks, Sassette! Wait till you see Smurfette speaking with a Southern drawl as Glinda!
Smurfette: "I'm Glinda, the Smurfy Good Witch of the South... y'all! Like what'cha see?"
Sassette: "Oh yeah, that's a smurfy wand!"
Smurfette: "No, sugar. I meant the dress. I just conjured it up while watchin' a cookin' show."

I'm not sure if it's coincidence or a direct result of people seeing my Smurf art here at BlueBuddies and on DeviantArt, but yesterday I received an email from a recruiter for a possible remote animation/web design job for a company in the Miami area. The job qualifications fit me to the letter, and I asked the recruiter to put me in as a candidate.
The interesting thing is that I've been getting a lot more of these emails and phone calls from recruiters since I began taking my Smurf art public via the internet. Coincidence? I don't know, but it looks like Papa Smurf, Smurfette and Vexy might be helping me land my next job! ![[Smurfette]](graemlins/smurfette.gif)

Thanks, Amy Sue! One of the ladies at my church tonight saw the original ink drawings of my Smurf fan art and loves it! She and her husband saw "Smurfs 2" and told me that her young granddaughter adores Smurfette. I gave her the URL to the Smurf art section of my personal website, which she said she would pass on to her granddaughter.
Looks like we got another young fan, yes? ![[Wink]](wink.gif)
