Hefty: Hi timid smurf! Are you having a smurfing day?
Timid: NO! I am so nervous about my script... I really don't want to mess it up.
Hefty: I am sure you do great, and what's the worst that could happen?

Timid: Well, I'm sure I need to practice. But, it's going to take me a week to get prepared.
Handy: Okay, then. (walks away) See you at the play, Timid.
Timid: (to himself) I can't believe I just said that. If I goof up these lines, they'll all laugh at me.
Weepy: Laugh at you?! That's... TERRIBLE! (cries loudly)
Panicking quickly, Timid moved his copy of the poem away from Weepy's tears.
Timid: Hey, watch it! You're getting tears on my only copy of the recital!

Timid (moved and running an arm around his shoulders): There, there, Weepy; cry no more, you know I can't stand to see you weeping like this. (Getting an idea) Listen, shall we smurf a pact?
Weepy (stopping crying at once, surprised): A pact, Timid? But what kind?
Timid: I'll promise I won't get disheartened if I fail and you in turn must promise you won't cry.
Weepy (squeezing his lips): This may not be easy...
Timid: Just try it, Weepy; smurf it for me!

Timid (seeing their reaction and getting apprehensive at once while thinking): "No, no, I can't back out now! I really need to smurf it and I'll do it, no matter if I succeed or not!"
(So he breathes deeply, clears his throat and starts his recital.)
