A few years ago I learned that I have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. It is something that I'm trying to come to terms with and understand, since I know very little about autism in general. I knew that I had a developmental disorder since I was unable to talk around age 2, which was why I had to go to special schools throughout my childhood (the residential schools being the basis for Psychelia in the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf series). One of my previous therapists suggested that I might have Asperger's syndrome, but that term is no longer used in favor of autism spectrum disorder, so that's where I am. I have some difficulty interacting with people and also communicating, since my brain likes to take its time processing the very thing I want to say, so it's like somebody communicating with a very slow computer. Also I don't like having to make eye contact with people because it fills me with fear that they are going to stare right into me. Besides autism spectrum disorder, I'm also diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder, so I'm real "fun" to interact with.

I'm autistic too! It's nothing to be ashamed of. Like everything there's pros and cons to it but at the end of the day, it's a part of who you are and that's okay! <3
