I almost died last night, May 29, 2013
Yesterday evening I would have died if not for a string of three things that luckily happened. I believe this is proof that God was looking out for me.
Around five til six last night my mom went outside to look at our camper, which we had gotten back from being worked on, and my dad was doing yardwork. I was at my computer and had forgotten to have my ventilator plugged in before they left. A few seconds after I heard the door close, my ventilator's low battery alarm went off. About five minutes later it made an alarm I'd never heard before and never want to hear again, then it stopped giving me breaths.
The first thing that lead to my rescue was that I didn't panic. I tried to focus on breathing on my own until help arrived. Something told me to look for help on Skype, then I realized I only have a very few people on there and the chances were low they'd be on. Then I remembered my aunt and uncle that live a few miles away are often on FaceBook. So I checked the list on the bottom left for them there.
The second thing that lead to my rescue was, after I saw my uncle was in the list but no longer online, I spotted my aunt near the top of the list. When I saw she just happened to be on, thinking Thank God, and I messaged her. I told her more or less that I needed help, my vent quit and my parents were outside. And to hurry. I started feeling lightheaded and felt my head pounding and the last thing I remember is telling her I was passing out.
The third thing that lead to my rescue was that my dad had his cell phone on him, which he often forgets to take with him. I'm told my aunt called him as he was coming to the house to let our dog in, as she was barking at the door. He said he couldn't believe what she was telling him, dropped his hose and rushed inside.
When he got to me I was unresponsive and my face was blue with purple lips. I wasn't breathing. He backed me away from my computer, plugged in and reset my ventilator and started shaking me and slapping my face to bring me around. I have no memory of that. After I got a few breaths I began to come to my senses and asked for him to amboo me, using an amboo bag to push air in through my trache tube to breathe for me. I heard him say the vent was back on but I couldn't comprehend what it meant and kept saying amboo. So he did. I recall being surprised I could hear myself saying amboo, as I can only talk when getting breaths. I began to look around, trying to focus as I slowly regained my senses and color. After that I went back on my vent for a few minutes before I was layed in my bed to calm down and recomposen myself. My head, chest and upper arms felt hot, then cold, and finally I began to feel normal.and got back up at seven.
I'm not writing this to draw attention to myself, but to give praise, honor and glory to the Lord for setting these three things to fall into place so that my life was saved and I'm still here to share this with you. I thank God, my Aunt Judy and my dad Will for saving my life. I hope this experience will inspire others and let them know that God is real, watching over us and orchestrating things to take place in our lives for our own good.
PRAISE GOD!!

I do have a back up battery it has to be manually connected. There is no automatic switch-over. I only use it when I go somewhere or when there's no handy place to plug in.
