Here's another fun promotion for the NBC Smurfs cartoon... on the box of the Gargamel & Azrael Super Smurfs!
Two versions of this box reference watching the Smurfs TV show - "As seen on TV" or "As seen on NBC". The other boxes with the different languages (Schtroumpfs-A-Schtroumpfs & Super Schlumpf, Super Smurf) don't show any reference to the TV show.

NBC Smurf Bumpers
Smurfs will return after these messages!
We now return to Smurfs!
Here's a compilation video of NBC Smurf bumpers seen while watching the Smurfs cartoon on TV in the 1980s.
What is a bumper?
A bumper is a brief announcement (voice over) placed between a TV show and a commercial break. A bumper would appear between television programming content and advertisements.
Networks created "bumpers" to signal to the audience when the show was going to commercial. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) set a regulation that required a distinction between programs and commercials, as some of the audience viewers were unable to distinguish between a program and commercial without the aid of a bumper.
Many bumpers on NBC included the phrases "(TV Show) will be back after these messages". Then once the commercial was over another "bumper" would announce going back to the program "We now return to (TV Show)". The three big networks (ABC, CBS and NBC) all featured its own bumpers during Saturday Morning Cartoons.
