It's garden gnomes one, smurfs nil. The Smurfs is the year’s second film about small characters with pointy hats after the Elton John-produced Gnomeo and Juliet and it lacks that picture’s bouncy charm and humour.
A mixture of live-action and animation, it’s a competently made but routine adventure that sees the little blue creatures sucked from their storybook world into New York where they must outwit their wizard nemesis and find their way home. Where’s Elton John when you need him?

Not sure exactly what your talking about, but with the topic of Gnomeo and Juliet here's an interview with Elton John about Gnomeo and Juliet.

The first, second, and third time I watched it I practically died because he mentioned the smurfs near the beginning and it is just so cool to hear my favorite singer say "Smurfs."
