If you didn't watch The Smurfs Christmas Carol yet, you can find it on YouTube, Shy Smurfette.
Yes, yes, I know that showing this is somewhat late now, but as I've just found it I couldn't resist...
These lovely Smurfette flip-flops are by Ipanema, a trademark belonging to Grendene, the same shoe company that launched the Smurfs Melissa flats when the movie was released in Brazil.

Plus, in L.A. (Louisiana) it is hotter than the other parts of the U.S. so we're getting a jump-start in our swimming for the year.

With some folks, they want the Smurfs to stay stuck in a 2D animation world prison, never to be made into 3D even if anybody wanted it.

I never said that,Vic but it's not like I don't like 3D it does work but the real old magic of the series just isn't there. Something is always better be off old fashioned than try to move with the world that they doesn't belong. Japanese anime,Doraemon they have like 30+ feature films and you know what none of them were fully 3D even the newest ones are still in 2D animation.

And as I said before, Studio Peyo doesn't have the benefit of having an ongoing TV series like the Simpsons or an animation studio that they have constant communication with in order to have something like a 2D animated movie that's anything in quality like The Simpsons Movie. Hanna-Barbera is gone, and the only people they have to work with is Sony Pictures Animation, who are most likely trying to understand just what it is that made the Smurfs work with an American audience, let alone their original European audience.
Hopefully, this will be the last I want to say on the subject, because it feels like beating a dead horse.

Like I said before they can do 3D so much before go back to basics once again. "Sometimes,we need to take a step back in order to move forward." But no company especially in US would follow this quote they got too much money to the rightful things. People will always craving for more old school 2D animation not because they don't like 3D CG but audiences got tired of CG movies. They need to take note from their fellow car-like robot secret to success because like it or not people still loving the way it was/is and it needs no change.

Hello, i know this thread's been dead for like a whole decade now but im not sure if anyone here has heard or seen but there's some new info and footage for Paramount Pictures's old unfinished Smurfs Movie obtained from different sources
(Im putting it here since this was the Smurfs movie before the 2011 one lol)
Anyways first of all a voice actor (MrSkellyt0n on Twitter/X) who supposdleyy worked on voice over/narrating work for the first trailer (seemingly the one set for June 2008 according to smurfsthemovie.net) and a 35 second TV spot back in April 2008 has let us known more about the film:
He states:
- The trailer would have been around 2 minutes and 15 second and was nearly finished with it only missing a few clips and instead featuring the characters' voice lines over a black screen, the TV spot however was completed
- The plot would have been about Gargamel finding the Smurfs' village, and them having to flee to keep themselves safe, as the Smurfs head through territory on the outskirts of the village, hijinks ensue, as they look for a way to stop Gargamel and save the village
- Puppy was a blue dog owned by Smurfette in this film while the Smurflings (Slouchy, Snappy, Nat and Sassette) would have been grown up Smurfs
- Nat especially would have been changed from male to female and become the tough leader of the village outskirts, her new design is described to be like Smurfette but with black hair containing a hair clip, a basic dress with a hood and red heels
- The trailer mostly focused on Papa Smurf, Smurfette and Gargamel, however several other Smurfs were also featured including Jokey, Hefty, Brainy, Sassette, Baby Smurf, Snappy in a "comedic relief" role with Slouchy and Clumsy appearing in brief gags
- The voice actor recalls Smurfette sounding like Emma Stone, Hefty sounding like Alec Baldwin, Brainy sounding like Tom Kenny or a soundalike of his, Baby Smurf sounding like Tara Strong, Jokey sounding like Danny DeVito or a soundalike of his and Nat sounding like Idina Menzel
Other highlights of the trailer include:
- The trailer contained shots of the Smurfs running into Azrael near the end, and a view of the entire village - The logo provided on smurfsthemovie.net was slightly different to what was featured in the trailer as the two 2D Smurfs were removed and "Movie" was now in the SMURFS font - The films tagline was around the likes of "When evil strikes, the Smurfs will band together" -The film was still planned to release on November 28th, 2008 at the time - The Smurfs' theme song was present during the shot of the village - The trailer contained a generic 2000's upbeat song playing over it but which song remains unclear
FUN FACT: The voice actor only recorded saying "The Smurfs Movie" for the TV spot while him saying the November 28 date at the end was for both the trailer and the TV spot, also the Paramount logo only showed up in the trailer with Nickelodeon Movies not being mentioned until the end, the TV spot featured no opening logos at all
The voice actor does not sadly possesses any material from like his recording script or even just the trailers themselves, stating Paramount should still be keeping them on their vault
Lastly but not least, the new footage...
This 1.5 second recently discovered footage montage of the old Paramount film featuring the grown up Slouchy and Sassette comes from a also recently discovered obscure 2015 Smurfs reel on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRJhaqTow_8

I'm glad they saved the full-CGI Smurfs movie idea for 2017's Smurfs: The Lost Village, even if it went with a different plot.
