Handy befriends a human inventor who appears to be in distress and brings him back to the village. However, the other Smurfs scold Handy for bringing a human into the village. Papa Smurf, on the other hand, can see that the inventor is in danger.

*the episode starts with an inventor named Edmund and his boss Nicholas out in the forest, Nicholas scolding young Edmund*
Nicholas: Edmund, you're useless! Your inventions are nowhere near paying my debt!
Edmund: I-I apologize, Nicholas, I'm doing the best I can!
Nicholas: It's not enough! I need something unique, not something we already have! Just wait here and gather some wood! I need to depart! *he leaves leaving the young inventor on his own*
Edmund: What a terrible man, using me to get what he desires. *he sits on a log, downcast*

Edmund: What to do, his demands just grow bigger by the day, I'm not the deeply inspired inventor he thinks I am.

*nearby, Handy is making changes on Clockwork when he hears Edmund, he pushes the bushes back and sees him*
Edmund: Nicholas just expects me to be inspired overnight, it takes more than one inventor to come up with something new and unique.
*Handy feels conflicted for a moment, but decides to talk to him*
Handy: Hey, are you alright?
Edmund: Oh! What sort of creature are you?
Handy: I'm a Smurf, I'm Handy. Who are you?

Edmund (nicely): Nice to meet you, little one. My name is Edmund, and I'm an inventor. (Sighing) At least, that's what I thought I was!
Handy (intrigued): Why do you say so?
Edmund: Because of my boss. He's very demanding and has been saying that nothing that I've invented works right!

Handy: Well, what have you smurfed so far? Maybe I can help you.
Edmund: What's the point? *he takes out one of his blueprints* This toy maker will never work.
*Handy takes the blueprint and examines it*
Handy: It's not bad, but I think you add more to it.
Edmund: What do you mean?
*Handy takes his pencil out of his ear and starts erasing and making changes to the blueprint*
Handy: See? Just a few changes and you're good to go.

Handy: I'm an inventor too, I've smurfed many inventions back in the village.

Edmund: If only I could be as creative as you, Handy Smurf. You seem to know what you're doing, I don't know how to do that in front of Nicholas.

Edmund: My boss Nicholas has been using me for years, he knows that I’m an inventor but his demands grow bigger by the day. He always expects me to come up with something new overnight. That cunning man desires fame and fortune more than anything, and he always takes full credit of my work.
Papa: My smurfness, that’s terrible!
Edmund: Indeed…I must say, Papa Smurf, your dear colleague Handy Smurf is quite the inventor.

Edmund (opening his arms, disheartened): I’d love to, my little friends; but unfortunately inventors don’t have much choice regarding jobs...

Edmund (raising his hand in an appeasing gesture): Please, please! Don't quarrel over me! Your fellow is quite right to be distrustful, Handy. I can understand him, for I imagine you Smurfs must have had a lot of bad experiences with humans.
Papa Smurf: We've had indeed, Edmund; but on the other hand, many others have shown to be good and trustworthy to us!
Smurfette: That's right! Johan and Peewit, for example!
Edmund: And who are they?
