13 Satan answered and said, It seemed unto me a notable trial.
14 But when his three friends came unto him, I said, Now shall his patience utterly fail.
15 Yet they sat with him seven days and seven nights, and spake not a word.
16 And the LORD said, That was their wisest counsel.
17 Then Satan sighed, saying, Would God they had continued therein.
18 For when they opened their mouths, they ceased not from speaking.
19 And their words were multiplied exceedingly, yet understanding increased but little.
20 And behold, when I thought their speeches were ended, there arose Elihu the son of Barachel, saying, Hearken unto me also.
21 Then Satan rent his expectation, and said, Must there needs be another speech?
22 And the LORD laughed.
23 Then Satan said, One thing understand I not.
24 Wherefore didst thou not declare unto Job all that had befallen him?
25 And the LORD answered and said, Because it is better for a man to know his God than to know every secret counsel.
26 For faith walketh not by the seeing of all things, but by trusting in Him who ordereth all things well.
27 Then Satan bowed his head a little.
28 And he said, Verily, the ending might have been worse.
29 And the LORD said, How so?
30 Satan answered, Thou mightest have restored all that Job had, and also have given his friends another discourse.
31 Then the LORD smiled.
32 And he said, Their words have endured unto many generations.
33 Satan said, For what cause?
34 And the LORD answered, That men might learn what comforters they ought not to be.
35 Then Satan marvelled, saying, This had I not considered.
36 And the LORD said, Hast thou yet another accusation?
37 Satan answered, I have another theory.
38 And the LORD said, I know it already.
39 Then Satan departed from before the presence of the LORD, pondering many things.
40 And the LORD looked upon the children of men, and said, Blessed is the man that trusteth in me, though he understand not all my ways.
41 For my thoughts are higher than your thoughts, and my ways than your ways.
42 And far off upon the earth Job sneezed, and knew not wherefore.
43 And he said, Blessed be the name of the LORD.
44 Then his wife looked upon him, and said, Hast thou caught a cold?
45 And Job answered, I know not: but if I have, the LORD knoweth.
46 And they both laughed together, and went in unto supper.
Here endeth the Epilogue of Job.
