When reading about the Japanese launch of the Playstation 2, I was saddened to hear about a teenager (or child?) who had waited all night to buy a Playstation 2 - was successful in getting one of the units - and had it stolen from his bicycle on his way home.

Man, that really, really stinks.

What's even sadder is that videogame theft in Japan is pretty much commonplace, esp. with some newly-released games that are touted to be major hits. (I've heard about this going on with the Dragon Quest series for the Famicom system.) Some people wait in line for a long time just their hands on a hot new game and then somebody else mugs them and snags that game.
