Smurfing out loud... some cover versions I'd like to hear:
* Katy "Smurfette" Perry doing "Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground) by The Jacksons or "Love Train" by The O'Jays--her powerful voice would blend with the high energy of the songs.
* Mindless Behavior doing "And The Beat Goes On" by The Whispers or "Second Time Around" by Shalimar--their auto-tune vocal effects could easily be dropped into the precise rhythms of the classic Solar Records sound.
(If you never heard of Solar Records, do a Wikipedia search. Founded by "Soul Train" creator Don Cornelius, Solar had an iconic, easy-going R&B sound that in the early 80's was known as The L.A. Sound or Solar Sound.)

This was done by a friend of mine...

I have always had a sweet spot for Philadelphia Soul, aka Sweet Philly or Philly Soul. The pounding rhythms of the uptempo dance tunes, the mellow slow jams of the love songs, the lush orchestrations and socially positive lyrics as penned by the songwriting-producing teams of Gamble & Huff, or McFadden & Whitehead.
The best known example of Philly Soul is "TSOP - The Sound of Philadelphia", the theme song of the classic TV dance show "Soul Train". Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies, plays this song at the start of every Phillies home game. Other examples include:
** "Love Train", "I Love Music", "For The Love Of Money" and "Use Ta Be My Girl", all by The O'Jays.
** "When Will I See You Again" by The Three Degrees.
** "Expressway To Your Heart" by The Soul Survivors.
** "The Hustle" by Vance McCoy.
** "If You Don't Know Me By Now" by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes.
** "You'll Never Find (Another Love Like Mine)" by Lou Rawls.
** "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" by McFadden & Whitehead.
** "Enjoy Yourself" by The Jacksons.
** "Disco Inferno" by The Trammps.
And from what I understand, Alvin & The Chipmunks and The Chipettes did quite a few covers of the above songs in their trilogy of feature films.

A very cute song from "The Chipmunk Adventure" with fantastic full Disney-style animation, the result of former Disney animators working on the film. Brittany looks like she's auditioning for (oh my) "Flashdance".
I'm sure they had live models as references for the choreography and probably rotoscoped into the final animation.

Here's another favorite song of mine. Anysmurf who grew up watching "American Bandstand" in the 70's or 80's will recognize it immediately. (And the Astro Smurf emoticon is a clue.
"Space Race" by the late Billy Preston was the song Dick Clark used at the half-hour break for "Bandstand" during those decades.
And if you ask me, they should have added this song to "The Smurfs Dance Party" video game; it would be cute to see Papa, Smurfette and Clumsy getting down to this funk classic. But, since it's Grandpa Smurf-old in the minds of the game developers (anything before 2009 is old to them), it wasn't considered. Still a great track, though.
P.S.--After initially posting the above reply, I started sketching up an idea for an animated music video based on this song, with Astro (Dreamy) Smurf blasting off into space with Smurfette, Brainy, Vexy and Clumsy dancing in zero gravity to this song. They meet up with the Grimies in their moon ship, and together they have their own little smurfy "Bandstand" in space.
I've been sketching up multiple Smurf fan art and story ideas lately, and this is just the latest.

Wow, Oakley.. Glad you found some new music... and here's a fact: Anyone know The Stone Temple Pilots? They have a new lead singer, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park and here's an old video of Scott & Chester doing Dead & Bloated:

So I came across this yesterday: 2 Users on Youtube & DA called Triple-Q and RosalinaSama have created a remix album which involves all 12 songs from the 2000 album Hybrid Theory, an album by American Rock/Hip Hop band Lnkin Park and alsu mixed with a track called Gangnam Style (강남스타일) from a South Korean rapper named Psy (싸이) (one of the tracks also used another song called Gentleman [젠틀맨]) and it's one of the skilled remixes you will ever hear: The album is called "Psybrid Theory" and it's reallt good, your Thoughts?
