Here is a children's story I made for a school project:
Oliver the Little Big Rabbit
A long time ago in a meadow far far away......... There was a community of rabbits living in the outskirts of a small human village called Kettle Corn. The rabbits lived appily together. The younger rabbits would play games like kick the acorn, tag, hide and seek, and leap frog, while the grown rabbits would work to gather food, mantain their families burrows, and looking out for hawks. All of them were fine with how their live worked, except for one little rabbit. His name was Oliver. He was the smallest of the rabbits at his school, no bigger than your hand, he had one lopsided ear, his coat was the color of cocoa and he had one darker spot about the size of a ping pong ball around his right eye. All of the other rabbits his age would make fun of Oliver calling him 'Half pint' or 'Smalliver'. Oliver didn't like it at all.

One warm summers evening, Oliver walked outside on his way home from school. He strolled along inconspicuiously as the adult rabbits whom were about seven or eight times bigger than he was were doing their daily routines. He walked past the lookout patrol's burrow where the bunnies were trained to protect their meadow from the vicious red tailed hawks that were always trying to attack the rabbits meadow. All burrows have a wooden sign next to it to tell you whom/what it is for. The Lookout Patrol's burrow had a metal wall (and humans think we haven't figured out the use of metal yet, just wait till the bunny revolution. Oops, what am I saying? Umm... You did not hear a thing human) around it that required you to scan in your paw print to get in, just to keep nosy kids out. Oliver also saw two little bunnies that were younger than him fighting over a carrot near the edge of the woods.

As he hopped along, suddenly he heard a familiar voice yelling "Hey half pint! How'd you like to do a hopping contest. Oh yeah, we already know who would loose!" Oliver heard a group of bunnies laughing at this joke and he knew that he was being followed by James. James was the biggest rabbit in school and he loved to tease the little bunnies. He was as big as an adult bunny 2 years before he should be. His coat was pitch black and when he was younger he had gotten attacked by a hawk so he had a claw scar on the left side of his chin.

Oliver ignored James and kept on walking hoping they'd leave him alone, but of course he was wrong. "What's up?" James yelled. "Oh wait, you wouldn't know that." He finished with a smirk on his face. "Leave me alone!" said Oliver. "Can't you pick on someone your own size? Or is everyone who's your size able to ground you?" This irritated James. "Well, I'll have you know that my father is the mayor of this forest, and he could get you arrested." James snobbishly said. "Oh right, so your father's going to arrest an innocent bunny for standing up for himself." Oliver replied sarcastically. "Well, uh.... Father!" James yelled as he hopped away to go get his father. Oliver sighed and hopped along. When he got home, his mother was in the kitchen cooking dinner while his 8 little sisters and brothers were whining that they were hungry. "Oliver, why are you late for dinner? I was worried about you." His mother asked with concern. "It's okay, I just had some trouble with James." Oliver replied. "Mom, why am I so much smaller than the other bunnies at my school?" He asked. His mother thought for a minute, stirring her pot of vegetable soup. "Well honey, I guess that's just the way you were born." She replied. "But nobody takes me seriously being small, I want to be big like James. I don't want people to pick on me." Oliver argued. "Oliver, listen. I'm sure you were born this way for a reason. I'm sure that you'll do great things some day." His mom said encouragingly. Oliver pondered this idea for a few seconds. "You really think so?" He asked. "I know so." His mother replied with a smile. Oliver walked along. He was a bit frusterated with his mom since he knew that she knew well enough that he wasn't good for anything, but he tried not to let on about his frusteration. After he had gotten his bowl of soup, he headed straight for his room. "Oh Oliver!" His mother called for him, but he was so mad that he ignored her and went straight to his room. Oliver couldn't sleep the following night. He kept on pondering his mother's words. "I'm sure you'll do great things someday." He repeated. He couldn't understand how he could do great things when it seemed like he was the most unuseful bunny in the forest. He got up and crept out of his bed. He hopped outside silently and gazed up at the stars. The cool wind made Oliver shiver, but the sound of the insects was soothing to Oliver. He watched the twinkling stars, and then he saw an object race across the sky. "A shooting star!" He exclamed in a whisper. He remembered that his father, whom was one of the group of rabbits that went out in the forest and collected food. It's a dangerous job for a rabbit since there are coyotes, hawks, snakes, and other things that like to eat rabbits, but his father was the quickest rabbit in the colony, and he's been doing it for 1 1/2 years now, used to say that when you wish on a shooting star, then there is a fairy that hears your wish and if you've been a good bunny, she will grant it for you. But if your wish is bad, than there's no way to take it back. "I wonder." Oliver said to himself. "Starlight, Star bright, the first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might have this wish I wish tonight: I wish that I will no longer be the smallest of the rabbits. I wish that nobody would have any reason to make fun of me anymore. Please!" Oliver whispered. Oliver didn't remember falling asleep, but he woke up with his brothers and sisters shaking him yelling "Wake up Waliber!" since they couldn't pronounce Oliver yet. Oliver sat up and hopped inside. "What were you doing outside honey? You scared me for a second when we couldn't find you." His mother asked suspiciously. "I guess I sleepwalked." He said. He was dissapointed when he ran outside and looked at his reflection in a pond, he looked the same. He still had his lopsided ear, he still had the spot around his eye, his coat was still cocoa brown, and most dissapointingly, he was still the same size as he was before. Oliver sighed. "Well I guess dad was wrong." He thought. But then he was startled, when he gazed back at his reflection, it showed a mark on his forehead. It was a glowing star shape. Oliver felt his head and the spot that he saw the star on was warmer than the rest of his body. Then he felt strange. He started feeling a little light headed and dizzy, like you do after you've been spinning in a swivel chair. Then he felt like his arms and legs were getting heavier and heavier and they started feeling too big for his body. Then he looked back into the pond and they were. He was growing. He kept on watching his reflection, the star mark still glowing on his forehead, until soon his arms, legs, and head were so big he couldn't lift them. He blacked out. A while later he woke up to the sound of screaming. As Oliver got up, he heard a sloshing sound. He looked down and fur was soaking wet. "Wha-What happened?" Oliver said his head throbing with pain. He looked around, his vision was blurred for a couple of seconds, but when his eyes got into focus he noticed he was still in the colony. But he noticed that all of the burrows looked tiny, like not even his paw could fit in it. It was as if someone had built a replica of the forest, except miniature version. Then he looked down and saw surrounding him were bunnies that were scurrying away from him. Oliver tried to get up, but it was hard to do without crushing anyone. Oliver's memory was still a little blurry, but everything was starting to come back to him. He looked in what was left of the pond and saw there was still a scar from that star mark. He noticed that the story his father had told him about the fairy was real, but she had misunderstood him. Oliver only wanted to be the size of an adult rabbit, but instead he estimated that he was about 6 feet tall. Then he heard his father's voice in his head "If your wish is bad, than there's no way to take it back." It soon became clear to him that he had grown too big for the colony and there might not be a way to get back. Oliver then heard a familiar voice yelling "Oliver?!" He looked down and saw his mother looking up at him with a look of astonishment and concern. "Uhh... Hi mom." Oliver said forceing a smile on his face. "Oliver! What in the world happened to you?" His mom asked, though she seemed so amazed that it looked like it was hard for her to get the words out. "Mom, I made a big mistake! I wished on a star and then, well this happened. I'm so sorry." Oliver said, he felt like he was going to cry when the thought that he'd be forced out of the colony since he would probably be considered a threat to the rest of the rabbits. "Um, it's okay Oliver dear. I'm sure that they'll find some solution." She tried to say reassuringly, but Oliver could tell she was thinking the same thing he was. "Mom, I never thought I'd say this, but I really, really, miss being the smallest rabbit my age." Oliver said longingly. "What'll I do?" He asked. "Oliver-" His mom started, but what she said was cut off by the sound of a trumpet playing the tune that meant the mayor was coming in. When they both turned they saw a bunny that looked a lot like James, except he was more groomed than James and he didn't have the scar. He was being followed closely behind by two big bunnies that Oliver guessed were his sercurity guards. The mayor cleared his throught, he tried to keep a straight face but Oliver could tell he looked astonished and maybe a bit intimidated. "So what do we have here?" He asked. Oliver told him the whole story, he tried to make the parts that involved James sound a bit better than they were, hoping that it would help whatever ended up happening to him get to be the best possible. After he finished, the mayor and a group of rabbits started whispering to one another. Then the group broke up and the mayor had a sorry look on his face, or at least the most sorry his face could get, taking into account that he was supposed to look official to be the mayor. Then, trying not to look Oliver in the face, he said: "I talked with the rest of the government-" In a different situation, Oliver would've laughed since the mayor only talked to two other guys. But he just sat there hoping that it wouldn't be too bad. "and we've come to the conclusion that the safest thing to do for our colony would be to-" he cleared his throught. "Would be to banish Oliver from the colony." The mayor finished. "What!" both Oliver and his mother said at the same time. "It's the only way, I'm sorry." The mayor said, then a rabbit ran up to the mayor and whispered something to him. "Oh, I've gotta go. And Oliver, you need to be out of my colony by sundown tomorrow. Got it?" The mayor said sternly. "But-" his mother started to protest, but Oliver said "No, it's okay mom. I know I got into this mess, and I'm going to suffer the conciquences." Then Oliver walked off into the woods leaving giant footprints where the pond used to be, but Oliver's moving around made waves of water get into the grass which obsorbed it so all that was left was a giant mud puddle. A few hours later, it started raining. Oliver was in the woods he noticed that he hadn't learned how to make a burrow for shelter yet. Plus he had just relized how hungry he was, and he hadn't packed any food and it was getting late. He needed to find a shelter and fast. He walked around in the woods for what seemed like forever. The rain kept on getting harder, until it felt like pebbles were falling on him, each traveling the speed of a bullet. He didn't have much more energy left, and just when he was about to loose hope, he saw a cave in the distance. He walked over. At first he thought it might've been a bear, but then he remembered that bears don't live in this part of South America. Oliver didn't care, he was so desperate that he hopped in. "Hello?" He said wondering if someone was inside. He was so scared, his heart was raceing. "Hello?" he repeated. Then after the second time, he assumed that the cave was empty. He layed down and closed his eyes then eventually the exausted soaked bunny went to sleep. When he woke up, he was blinded by sunlight shineing into the cave. He walked out and saw it was a beautiful day outside compared to the previous night. He walked along, and the sence of loneliness started to come up for Oliver. He missed his colony, he missed his little brothers and sisters, and most of all, he missed his mother. He had never noticed how bad it felt to be lonely. Then he heard a horrible sound, a sound he had been taught to fear. It was the cawing of hawk. He looked in the direction of the sound and saw red tailed hawks circling an object. Then Oliver got the terrified feeling that they were circling the colony. Oliver started hopping as fast as he can in that direction. He didn't care if he was banished. He needed to help his colony. He bounded on into the woods until he reached the clearing where dozens of rabbits were running around in panic. The hawks kept on swooping down but the rabbits were so fast that the hawks were having trouble catching any of them. He heard the trumpets, but instead of the tune they used when the mayor was coming in, it was the alarm. One of the hawks spotted Oliver and swooped down hoping to wound him so he wouldn't be a threat. Oliver tried to get out of the way, but the hawk's talons scraped the skin on the left side of his face. A searing pain went up to his head and soon spread all over his body. His vision went blurry, and he just noticed that some of the other hawks were swooping down and scraping him up. This was the most pain he'd ever felt in his life. Just when Oliver thought he was going to black out in pain, he heard a shriek. It was his little sister, whom had just gotten caught by a hawk. Suddenly there was a bright blue light and all of Oliver's surroundings dissappeared and it felt as though he were standing in the middle of a navy blue ocean. But how come he could still breathe? Then he saw in a flash of light, a woman's figure appeared. Oliver felt stronger as soon as she appeared. He felt as though he should be afraid, but instead he felt more powerful than ever in her presence. "Who are you?" He asked. "I think you know who I am." She said in a powerful, but kind voice. Oliver felt like he knew her voice, even though he was pretty sure he'd never seen her before. "You're the fairy, the one that hears everyone's wishes." He said without even thinking. He wasn't sure how he knew that, but he felt pretty confident about it. "Yes, I am." She said. "What happened to the fight?" Oliver asked. "Oh don't worry." She said. "When I visit people, everything that was surrounding them freezes until I'm done." Oliver was relived. "Well, Miss. I made a huge mistake. I just wanted to be a big rabbit when I see now that there's no real bonus for being bigger, and if your too big it can be really bad. I'm so sorry I didn't see what I had until it was gone. I'm begging you, please make me smaller again. I promise I'll never ever wish for something like that again." Oliver pleaded. The fairy smiled and said "Well Oliver, I see you've learned your lesson. And along with granting wishes and freezing time, I also have the power to reverse time." She stated. "Oh please! Let me start all over Ma'am! I promise I'll be a good bunny from now on! Please!" Oliver begged. "Fine, but please understand that if you get caught in a mess like this again I will not be able to help you." She warned. "I understand." Said Oliver "So what do I do now? Tap my heels saying 'there's no place like home?'" Oliver joked, but appearantly the fairy didn't have a sence of humor. She just clapped her hand and vanished in a cloud of sparks. Then Oliver felt like he was moving backwards fast, as if he were zooming backwards on a roller coaster in one of those human theme parks. Oliver stopped suddenly and the navy blue surrounding him vanished, he noticed he was back in the colony. Then he heard behind him "Hey half pint! How'd you like to do a hopping contest. Oh yeah, we already know who would loose!" Oliver looked back and was relived to see James towering over him again. And this time, instead of ignoring James. Oliver turned around and hopped towards him and to James's surprise, gave him a huge hug. His friends started laughing, but not at Oliver, they were laughing at James's reaction to the hug. Oliver let go and then while James was trying to figure out why Oliver just did that, Oliver went along hopping to his house where his siblings, just like before, were whining and complaining that they were hungry. Oliver walked over to his sister that he had heard getting caught by the hawk and gave her a big hug, while she struggled to break free. Then he ran over to his mother, and said "That smells good!" Then hugged her. "Wow Oliver, I've never seen you this cheerful since your father last came back." Which was a while ago, since my father wasn't just a food gatherer, but he had a licence to go further into the woods than most rabbits are permitted. So he gathers the good food from far from the colony and comes back once a year, or if we're lucky twice. "Oh, speaking of which. Oliver I've got a surprise for you." His mother said smiling. "Really?" He asked, and then remembered how his mother seemed like she had wanted to tell him something, but he had ignored her. "Yes." His mother answered. "I just got a message, and your father said that he's going to be coming home in 4 days!" His mother said exitedly. "Really! Awesome!" Oliver said. That night when he was sleeping. The fairy appeared next to his bed. Oliver didn't wake up, but in his dreams, he heard her voice and had some sence of her sitting next to him. "Good job, my little Oliver." She whispered.
