Levon was written by Elton John & Bernie Taupin from the fourth album Madman Across The Water and it was recorded on February 27, 1971. It was released as a single on November 29, 1971 and the song reached #24 on the Billboard Hot 100. This song is about a little boy who gets fed on what he's doing and he wish he could get away from it but he really can't. The title of the song was named after Levon Helm who is a co-founder, drummer, and singer.
Elton John and his civil partner David Furnish named their first born son Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John after the song on Christmas Day 2010.
