Hi my smurfy friends,
Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 21, at 8:30 A.M., I go in for oral surgery to have my 6 upper front teeth removed. Due to my having Muscular Dystrophy, I didn't expect to outlive my teeth so I didn't care for them properly and most of my front teeth have crumbled and broken. There is some infection that miraculously hasn't really bothered me but it's only a matter of time, so I'm having these teeth removed. This is my first oral surgery so I'm understandably nervous. If you pray, I ask for prayers that everything goes smoothly and I have a quick recovery. If you don't pray, I ask that you think of me and send your positive thoughts my way.
Thanks in advance, SurfFan

Hi my smurfy friends,
As I write this it's been nearly 7 hours since my oral surgery. After I was set up in their chair with my ventillator on, the surgery itself only took bout half an hour. The doctor said I was a good patient and everything went just fine. Right before the surgery he placed a pad like thing with Kodak printed on it between my upper a lower teeth and aimed a camera like thing at my mouth. He repeated this once. After surgery he said they were X-rays and that I only have 3 or 4 teeth that need a regular dentist's care. So it sounds like I won't need any more teeth removed, Praise God!! At the moment I'm still using gauze in my mouth as there is still some bleeding. But the bleeding seems to be slowing. During the surgery I was numbed quite well and didn't feel a thing. I go back to the oral surgeon next Monday, August 27th, the day before my birthday for a follow up. About 3 weeks from that, I'll go back to the dentist for maintenance and eventually for an insert to replace my front teeth that were removed. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for you prayers and well-wishes.
God bless! SmurfFan

Good to know it all gone well. I'm have the best oral condition out of anyone in my family. Actually my brother, mom and dad all gone through surgeries. I never have any oral surgey except one time that i have to remove my last milk teeth that refused to fell off naturally it was a stiff as hell experience. But that when I was 11 years old. I prefer to get shot by a needle rather than oral surgery.

I went to my oral surgeon for a check-up and he said I'm healing nicely. In 3 weeks I go to my regular dentist to have some cavity work done, and, hopefully, I'll be getting some new front teeth. LOL It's hard pronouncing words with an "f" in them!! ![[Wink]](wink.gif)
