i always did kinda feel for Grouchy on that subject not everyone likes being hugged or even touched i personally don't mind one now and then but excessively it gets awkward
i actually know a couple of huggers father and son you get with the two of them and you're going to be getting nonstop hugs and shoulder rubs and pats on the back and the arm one of them actually was making his rounds hugging everyone in sight once and he had already hugged me multiple times but when he got to me he says "you can never have too many hugs right?" and gives me another one and then i had to go to dinner with them needless to say i was a very happy camper when i was picked up later and could just go home and be alone for awhile

Yeah, and in the Methodist Church that my Grandmothers' go to, the priest said that if you leave that church without getting at least 2 hugs, then just go back in and he'll help you like that. And if you don't like hugging, just quickly stick your hand out. ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

i would stick my hand out to stop them as you suggest but i'm always too afraid of hurting someone's feelings no one likes to try to hug someone and get stopped or pushed away it hurts so i just suck it up and let them have their hugs and escape first chance i get :-D

i love hugging too but really only with people i feel close with and comfortable with like all of you :-D the people i was talking about in my previous post i had just met when i went to church with some friends one day and i thought it was really sweet and everything but just awkward too because i didn't know them at all yet
there have been a few occasions in my life when i received random hugs from little kids that just walked up to me that i didn't know those were very awkward but so sweet too tha it almost countered the awkwardness those occasions totally made my day i don't know if those kids could just sense when i needed a hug or what but it was always perfect timing :-D

Yes, I may also state that hugging a complete stranger or someone not particularly close to you may actually be considered a criminal offence, thus wreaking more complications and unnecessary precautions over a small matter. But when it comes to smurfs then admittedly I might perchance spare one or two.

The hugs I hate are the ones you don't want. It's really annoying if someone wants to hug you for a REALLY long time, and you put your arms down, and stop hugging them, but they keep hugging you!

Smurfette i know what you mean i've gotten that from time to time like when i'm frustrated because i'm overwhelmed with how much work i have to get done and someone thinks hugging me is going to make all the frustration go away this person literally will not let me go and is determined to always ruin a perfectly good bad mood even though i eventually try to pull away and say i have a lot to get done and would appreciate being left to it

That reminds me of a joke that someone in my family made up. It will take some explaining, but most of you will get it.
First of all, for my great grandparents, we call them Paw Paw (first name of person) or Maw Maw (first name of person). I don't remember both of my Paw Paws, but I remember my Maw Maws (only one is alive). Here is the joke:
Why do people think great grandfather Walter gave big bear hugs?
Because he was a Paw Paw.
