Topic: newbie bought some smurfs... fake or not?

Hello all,
In my youth (1970) i had the rubber schleich Smurfs. Papa smurf, wild smurf, black smurf and so on. Unfortunately i gave them away in the 80's i think. I would like to start with some smurfs, so i bought a few from the ebay site here.
But as far as i can remember, the ones i had were a little bit taller (or was it just my imagination?). Papa smurf on the picture is exactly 5cm's high. And i tend to think the ones i bought are somewhat darker blue. They look great, but what do you think of the markings? Mostly are from Hong Kong... But also from W. Germany, but the seams are very bad under the feet.

Thanks for your reply Squeaky. I saw you painted an old smurf yourself in another topic. Which kind of paint did you use for blue and white?

I used acrylic paints, but I had to mix some blue tones and a bit of black in order to get one quite alike to his original skin color; plus medium-sized and small (for details) round brushes. One must keep in mind this shall always depend on the way a certain Smurf figurine was painted: Cupid Smurfs
Still, before starting to paint, I had to make some tests on paper, for acrylics usually get a darker tone after they become dry. ![[Cool]](cool.gif)
