Hi all, My grandmother gave me this old looking smurf item but for the life of me I cannot find anything online explaining what it is. Can you help me? See attached photos. Measures 24 cm X 14 cm and 3mm thick.

Hi Fruzydon,
Welcome to BlueBuddies! Thanks for sharing your photos.
What you have is a cute Smurf "hot pot stand" or placemat (Thanks, Johan & Squeaky). People also used them as a cutting board. Sometimes collectors refer to them as Smurf Plaques.
Your Smurf Hot Pot Stand comes from a series of 8 different scenes. Each one measures 9.5 x 5.5 inches. I believe they are from West Germany in the 1970s or 1980s.
Although your placemat reads, "(c) Peyo, Lizenz: EL/Munchen" many others only read, "(c) Peyo".
Take a look at the photo to see them all!
Smurfs Placemats / Plaques / Hot Pot Stands
List of Smurfs Hot Pot Stands: 1) Smurf Castle 2) Smurf Carnival 3) Smurf Band 4) Smurfs at the Fishing Pond 5) Smurf Walk 6) Smurf Boat 7) Smurf Party 8) Artist Smurf
There are other Smurf plaques or hot pot stands. Another German series came out in the 1990s (~1995) by Fackelmann. There are also some older more square shaped ones by BP Australia.
Hope this helps! ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

I was thinking it was a mousepad...

I think you're right, teensmurffreak. It is too small for a place mat.

Thanks for all your input guys and gals. It does make sense that it is a hot pot stand. It's a little too small to be a placemat ........ And not the right material to be a mouse pad (made of chipboard from the looks of it). My grandmother did buy it in Germany........so maybe it is one from the 70s or 80s (as they did not travel in the 90s). Is the item of any value or is it more of a dust collector better off donated or thrown away?

I'd give about ten bucks for one. They definitely might be antiques.
