For those of you who either can't afford the high import price of the PAL DVDs, or if you are like myself *hate* them due to the editing changes (title cards, UK Spelling, ending and opening credits, bad music etc.) it's not at all hopeless.
Even though WB has released only a handful of the unedited NTSC DVDs, they have released most of the seasons through iTunes. Fortunately by using iTunes 10 and an app we can strip the DRM (copy protection) lossless w/o re-encoding and then burn them to a DVD or play on the player of our choice. 1. Download and install iTunes old version 10.5.2 (64bits): iTunes64Setup1052.exe
2. Download Requiem: requiem-4.1-win.zip
Some users may need to download Java SE JRE (latest version): http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
After you purchase and download the seasons on iTunes, close iTunes. Then launch Requiem and it will automatically find and remove the DRM files.
It will find and strip the DRM, make a new copy and move the old files to trash. Requiem is a lossless process which means unlike other software it does not re-encode the file so no quality loss.
iTunes Smurfs are 640x480, NTSC Progressive at 23.976 (same as Smurf Season 1 DVDs by WB). h264 and aac. They are about DVD quality as h264 is better compression then mpeg2 and DVD storage of 720 is not how 4:3 is displayed in square pixels (it's 640) so you won't notice any difference.
Currently Available is:
The Smurfs, Season 1, Vol. 1: Same as DVD The Smurfs, Season 1, Vol. 2: Same as the DVD The Smurfs, Season 2, Vol. 1: Same as a Magical Smurf Adventure DVD except progressive (DVD is interlaced). The Smurfs, Smurfs to the Rescue: Same as the DVD The Smurfs, Season 3, Vol. 1 The Smurfs, Season 3, Vol. 2 The Smurfs, Season 4, Vol. 1 The Smurfs, Season 4, Vol. 2 The Smurfs, Season 5, Vol. 1 The Smurfs, Season 5, Vol. 2 The Smurfs, Season 6, Vol. 1 The Smurfs, Season 6, Vol. 2 The Smurfs, Season 7, Vol. 1 The Smurfs, Season 8 My Smurfy Valentine
As for burning the m4v (mp4) to DVD www.nero.com will do it but there are other apps. You may want a look over at videohelp.com

Darn...the Season 7 volume DOES NOT have "Smurf On The Wild Side". Bad move, WB.

Season 7 is only the first Vol, so hopefully they will do the Vol 2 and contain the rest.
What I don't like about WB is most are all out of order anyway, and I am to lazy to edit them back in order. But VideoRedo will do it fairly easy.
