I recently dusted off my old toys and found my smurf collection again. Since I dont play with the little tykes anymore Im looking into selling them and a lot of online websites and shops have really helped me along in this. However, I still struggle with a problem that I encountered namely that I have a smurf with a colour variation that I cant find anywhere online. So, what do I do with that?
The smurf is 2.0089 - Painter smurf and is apparently always depicted with a brown brush in his left hand and a green and black brush in the right hand. My smurf has a red brush in the left and a yellow and brown brush in the right hand. I looked at the stamp on his feet and that is the same, so Im a bit puzzled now as to what Im supposed to do next?
I hope you dont mind me jumping out of the blue, I really do like your website a lot!

Welcome to Bluebuddies, tinkersparrow!
As you stated, the most common paint colors for Painter Smurf 2.0089 is with the black & green brushes in his hand with the palette and the brown paint brush in the left hand.
 Painter Smurf 2.0089
There is another color variation that you will also sometimes come across. This Painter Smurf has a red paint brush in his left hand. His right hand holds brown and green paint brushes. This is closer to your special figure - except you have a yellow, not green brush.
Painter Smurf 2.0089 - Color Variation
What you notice upon looking at both photos is that the red replaces the brown paint (on both the brushes and palette) and the brown paint replaces the black paint. Typically the other brush is always green (although I've seen the green colors vary from dark to more light and bright greens).
Does your figure have a greeny-yellow paint color or a mustard yellow color? Can you post a photo?
Hope this helps!

Hm, I seem to have misremembered the colour, its a dark green colour not a yellow one. Still I cant find much info on how rare that variation is, so more info would be appreciated

Here's a little more information...
Your Smurf is from a 1976 mold. The most common 20089 Painter (Artist) Smurf figure has the "Bully" / "(c) Peyo" / "W. Germany" markings on it. There are also Schleich versions as well.
Regardless of the color variations you see, it should have this stamp on the bottom of the foot.
If going by the German Smurf Catalogue "Schlumpf Katalog", your red paint brush color variation is worth about 30-40% more than the regular brown (orange) paint brush version.
If you have a truly unique paint variation (ie. painting error) or one that has a blue tip paint brush (with yellow & green brushes) it can be worth about 4 times the regular one.
Of course, the actual value is only as much as a person is willing to pay for it. You can have a bidding war in an auction - which raises the price considerably higher. You could also go to a Flea Market and find a smurf for only a few dollars. The guide just helps you establish which smurf figures are more rare or less common than others.
Bully Smurf Poster - Artist Smurf (Maler)
I thought you might find this interesting... it is a Bully Poster of Smurf Figures. You can see that the colors depicted on the artist's brushes do not match how the actual figures were painted!
Anyway, I hope this gives you a bit more information.
