First things first: You must be registered to use this feature. If you are registering for the first time, you can simply select your avatar from the registration screen, and ignore the instructions in this message.OK. Confused about this avatar business?
Don't be! 
It's easy! An avatar is simply a little picture. (Technically speaking, I've made them all 100x100 pixel pictures.)
These little pictures appear to the left of the text in your message. (Notice Papa Smurf to the left!)
That is all fine and good, but how do you get a picture?
First, login to the BBS (if you haven't done so) and return to this message.
Next, click the "my profile" link near the top of most Smurf Bulletin Board System pages.
Look down the page for "View/Update Profile" and click it.
If you look down the page, you will eventually come to "Your avatar:". Right now it will say "none", but if you click the little menu there you can select from around 25 pictures (more to come). Then go to the bottom of the page and hit the "View/Update Profile" button. That's it! The next post you make on the BBS will have a neat picture!
I have a "custom" picture, which is not listed in the choices other users have. You can have a custom avatar too! Just send me a picture of something that describes yourself (your personality, favorite singer, sports team, baby picture, anything at all) and I can turn it into a custom avatar, only available for you!
