This may be a silly question, but how come Boomerang never plays the last two Smurfs Seasons? Correct me if I'm wrong, but was that because they were the least successful?

I honestly don't know since I don't even get Boomerang. IMO, the last two seasons of the Smurfs cartoon show was where the concept was starting to show its wear and tear, with the final season being a grasping at straws to retain any regular watchers they had even since it aired in September 1981. I really didn't like having Grandpa Smurf OR Wild Smurf OR Nanny Smurf OR Smoogle being added to the show, and I really DO NOT like what I would call "Flying Dutchman" plotlines like the time-travelling in the final season. While to their credit Hanna-Barberra provided a possible escape hatch by leaving a good deal of the Smurfs behind in their "present time", all the season really did was to put the final nail in the coffin that the show was making for itself.

Oddly enough those episodes were shown in Australia. On one of the videos I have there's a Purple Boomerang logo on it.
