The box set for season #1 just got released here in America. You can read Vic George's little review here: http://bluebuddies.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/1116/3.html#000061
It appears that it still has that issue with the logo and the opening theme music being replaced. At least the episodes are in tact, though. You'll have to wait for the other seasons to come out as this is only for season #1.
Here it is on Amazon.
It's listed as imported which would explain why the intros are not intact. I wonder why we aren't having these DVDs made here in America since that is where the cartoon was produced?

Hi Shane great info (as always). Using your Amazon link, I started looking into the DVD. So far all I can find is info about a Canadian company, Exposure Entertainment that might be selling the discs. Maybe that is the reason they are listed as imported.
Amtraksmurf, Doctor Smurf called! He told me to tell you that you forgot to take your "nice pill" today! Don't be rude, Amtraksmurf, especially when Shane answered your question perfectly.

Remember, I said it was the boxed set for the first season. I'm sure there will be more to follow.
Good info Smurfy1for2. I'm still wondering based on that info if there will still be a proper release from Warner Brothers with all the intros intact.

Sorry. I got a case of "Grouchy Smurf". That box set that Shane showed me only has 23 eps. of season 1; The actual total of season 1 eps. is 39. Man, I can't stand anymore ERRORS! I'm going out railfanning again, Smurf ya later. ![[Happy Smurf]](graemlins/Happy_Smurf.gif)

Both numbers are wrong. Smurfs was about 425 stories, compiled into about 262 half-hour episodes, a couple of specials, and a movie. Some episodes had two stories, some had one.
That "334" number is from those god-awful cheaply made bootlegs that claim to be complete, but are far from it. The "420" number is just the stories counted, not the full episode count.
TV.com is wrong. It's actually wrong on many shows. Remember that no official authority writes that stuff, it's a lot like wikipedia, where people just right down what they think. It's not necessarily factual or correct. There is no authoritative gatekeeper.
Those fake bootleg sets (of any show, not just Smurfs) sold at places like tvboxset.com are some of the worst-looking garbage you'll ever see. They are highly-compressed noisy amateur video captures from old and degraded VHS tapes. The Smurfs episodes are from the USA channel Cartoon Network, which does not show the entire cartoon. They were first converted to VCD, then those VCDs were dumped onto DVDs later on. The person who made the set was long shamed out of selling his junk.
Do not buy this fake junk.
If anybody wants to see how horrible these DVDs look, e-mail me, and I'll send you some sample images. Contact me at yahoo.com, lordsmurf@. It's truly dreadful quality audio and video.
Just so you know.
