I do think that it was quite disturbing, especially considering that the Smurfs was mainly a childrens' cartoon. I get that they tried to avoid airing it to children by only airing it once in Belgium at 9:00pm. But there were probably a lot of children that were awake during that time.
I do have to say that it gave the point across very well, especially with the "Don't let war ruin the lives of children." thing. Props to Peyo's family for supporting the message of world peace.

Wow. I am so appalled.
As if we don't have enough reasons to dislike UNICEF, and the United Nations in particular, this is yet another example of their low-down scare tactics.

NOTE: UNICEF has done a lot of good, it's true. But there are other charities that are not controlled by the United Nations.

It's listed on the Smurfs Wiki as a "production not suitable for general audiences" and marked with a Papa Smurf warning banner.

I saw commets of eople saying of a reposts of the french ad saying "the joy you find on youtube" or straight up edgy comments just because of that horrendous movie of the smurfs on live action

pretty sad this video, and pretty sad to think that we have arrived to the point that we have to use our little smurfs to make people aware of the atrocities of wars on our children.....
For sure children will find their eyes on this video and it will make them even more scared....But for the leaders who decide when & where wars starts & end, I'm sorry to say that it won't make any difference for them...
Just my 2 cents....

War is horrifying, shocking, and spares no one, not even the kindest creatures. It would be a beautiful world where awareness videos like this weren't necessary... I pray the conflict in the middle east stops and every living creature gets to live a peaceful life free of weapons of mass destruction.
