Hey guys! Some of you have already known I am a video game programmer, and some of you don't know yet and this is your first time learning so. Either way, I'm still going to prove!
This is the thread for all the games I've made on GameMaker that discretely emulates 2-Bit era hardware such as Magnavox Odyssey, Apple I (not to confuse with the later Apple II) and all those obscure discrete logic hardwares by Atari, Sega and a few more way back before 1976, the year when video games started to become popular!
I found out I have finished creating a game one day last year called Blow Up in which I said is from 1975, and I have named myself under the name Vidtek (which is one of my THOUSAND company name's I've created). I made the graphics and sound emulate the Atari Discrete Logic arcade hardware which was first used in 1972 for Pong and was also later used on Breakout!, Gran Trak 10, Gotcha! etc.

A fun and addicting 3D submarine-shooter game with atmospheric sounds!
DOWNLOAD LINK HERE: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B2MUJ872 (remember to select BU.EXE on this file manager thing I've created after you click the applications, thats where the game is!)
(NOTE: All the dates, cast names and company names are not real, and were actually created by me. Why? Because I would like to emulate nostalgia.)
Always be sure to smurf your scores, your opinions and just possibly your gameplay videos here! Posts: 1476 | From: Canada | Registered: Jun 2008

It wasn't "2-bit hardware", it was just simply primitive 8-bit hardware.

Well yes. I noticed that most computers during the 4-bit console era and the 8-bit console era (which is basically second generation and third generation) run on 8-bit CPUS and microprocessors! Look, even Atari 2600 ran on 8-bit hardware and it was a 4-bit era! Colecovision was part of 4-bit era too and it ran on 8-bit also! There are many computers and consoles from those days that ran 8-bit processors. It's an 8-bit world.
In fact, I don't know why Wikipedia and some people name the generations of video games by their bit numbers, even when most second generations (aka the 4-bits) are 8-bit. However, I'm kind of used to doing it so call me crazy, but it's true.

I don't really know what you mean by 8-bit... the only Video Game-related thing I know that includes 8 bits is Super Mario Bros which has 8 Worlds... ahh well, I'm sure what ever it means, it's Smurfy!
Animator, it is hard for many people to know about all the other arcade hardware, old computers and consoles as well as this generation thing comprising of 1st-7th (what's more confusing for most people is take for example, Atari 2600 a console considered as 4-bit, but runs on an 8-bit microprocessor. It however does not confuse me and I am interested in this stuff). Some stuff you may already know is the Nintendo NES, Super Mario Bros., 8-bit generation consoles and 16-bit consoles. No, not to confuse with the bits of the microprocessors, but yeah, it is pretty much difficult unless you are a seriously interested researcher in those stuff like me.
Anyways thank you for sharing your best knowledge on 8-bit anyways, Animator!
By the way Animator, how did you enjoy my BLOW UP game? (With graphic and sound settings emulating a 2-bit generation arcade hardware, you can say!) What's your score?

Here's a gameplay video I made of it... I got 54 points! No battleships appeared this time on my game, but the maximum battleships I had on any round I played was around four so no actual number of battleships to appear was actually set and is random.

I'm sorry Archive but I haven't played it yet because I'm not allowed to Download stuff on my LapTop without permission. I'll try and get my parents to let me though. But the Gameplay Video you smurfed of it looks HACKIN' AWESOME!!

Thank you so much Animator and I hope you get to play too!
(P.S. I think i'll change the company name i put here to something else because I found a company that already has the name I inserted for it. Maybe I'll say it's by, "The Unknown Creation". XD)

I'm also thinking of making of making a text action game (not necessarily text adventure) from around 1978, running on Apple I hardware.
Should I try doing so?

Thanks, I'll get on to it! May take a few weeks though but then again it's programming so it's gonna take time.
