Here's one of my EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf fanfiction stories, which is based on The Wizard Of Oz. Enjoy!

Chapter 1
One night in the Smurf Village, as the Smurflings were settling down in their beds, Empath was reading to them one of Sassette's favorite books The Wizard Of Odds. It was all about a little girl named Dorothy who was taken up in a whirlwind from her village to a fantastical land called the Land of Odds. There Dorothy met up with three beings -- the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodsmurf, and the Cowardly Lion -- who joined her on her journey to the Emerald Village, where they met with the great and powerful Wizard of Odds. He gave the four a task to prove their worth -- to destroy the Wicked Witch of the West -- and when they came back with the proof of her destruction, the Wizard awarded the Scarecrow with the gift of brains, the Tin Woodsmurf with the gift of a heart, and the Cowardly Lion with the gift of courage. For Dorothy's reward, however, Glinda the Good Witch showed up because she knew that all the little girl wanted to do was to go home. "And so with the click of her smurfberry red heels, Dorothy found herself in bed back in her own village, being taken care of by her own aunt and uncle," Empath said. "She was so glad to have returned to her village, even though her aunt and uncle told her that she hadn't gone anywhere, that she told them that there was no place like home. And so, my little Smurflings, that is the end of the story." "That was a great story, Empath," Sassette said. "Pappy tells it almost the same way as you do." "Yeah, well, I don't see why it's so important for the story to have a girl Smurf as the hero, especially one who has to rely on the help of a few friends on this journey in the land of Odds," Snappy said. "You'd probably wish you had a sword or something so that you can smurf that Wicked Witch of the West down to size, Snappy," Slouchy said. "Is there any law that says that only boy Smurfs can be heroes of any story, Snappy Smurfling?" Sassette asked. "I smurfonally think there should be...otherwise how can there be a damsel in distress for the hero to rescue?" Snappy answered. "A good story doesn't need to have exclusively a male character as the hero or even have a 'damsel in distress' that needs to be rescued, Snappy," Empath said. "If a character has the courage to face up with whatever enemies and obstacles the story puts in his or her path to deal with, then the gender of the hero is totally irrelevant. And heroes don't always have to go through their journey alone, if they know that having a company of friends to go along with them helps the heroes accomplish their goals and that of their friends." "Just think of the things that we smurfed through together as Smurflings," Nat said. "You think either of us would be better off if we didn't have each other to smurf on for help?" "I still want to be a great lone hero, just like Empath Smurf," Snappy said. "Honestly, this smurf would rather be just one of the Smurfs like you, Snappy," Empath said. "Being granted with abilities that are greater than those of this smurf's fellow Smurfs hasn't exactly made this smurf's life any happier." "I want to see this magical world of Odds for myself someday, Empath," Sassette said. "To smurf down the yellow brick road to meet every single character in the story and to see the Emerald Village for myself..." "You'll never see that land, Sassette, because it's all a fantasy, and besides that Handy's still working on getting the Imaginarium thing smurfing again," Snappy said. "Perhaps you will get to see this land when Handy does get the Imaginarium functional again, Sassette," Empath said. "For now, the only place we can see this land is in our dreams, which means that it's time for us to go to sleep." "Thank you for smurfing me that story, Empath," Sassette said as Empath looked at her getting ready for sleep. Empath kissed Sassette on the forehead. "This smurf is honored to be your storyteller, Sassette, and that of your fellow Smurflings. Rest well...this smurf will see you again in the morning." "Good night, Empath," all four of them called out as Empath left the Smurflings' playhouse. "Just imagine what it would be like to smurf through the land of Odds, with me as Dorothy, Nat as the Scarecrow, Slouchy as the Tin Woodsmurf, and Snappy as the Cowardly Lion," Sassette said. "Wouldn't that be so much fun?" "I don't know what's so fun about me being a cowardly lion anyway," Snappy said. "I'm just as brave as Empath or Hefty or even Duncan." "And I don't see why I have to be the Scarecrow, or Slouchy has to be the Tin Woodsmurf, either," Nat said. "That's just how I see the four of us, Nat," Sassette said. "Well, it's going to take a tornado to smurf us anyplace that's like over the rainbow or something like that, Sassette," Snappy said. "Let's just get to sleep so we can get up bright and smurfy tomorrow morning," Slouchy suggested. "Yeah, another day in the life of the same old Smurf Village," Nat said as he let out a yawn. "It sure would be nice to smurf away to such a place like Odds." "Nat as the Scarecrow, and Slouchy as the Tin Woodsmurf," Snappy said to himself, chuckling at the thought. "I'd sooner smurf them being that than me ever being a cowardly lion." "Be careful of what you wish for, Snappy, because it may end smurfing true," Sassette said, overhearing her friend's comment. "That will be the day, Sassette...that will be the day," Snappy said.
And so the four Smurflings had drifted off to sleep, and the night was quiet and peaceful at first. But then suddenly the four Smurflings could feel their playhouse shifting around. All four them began to wake up. "Hey, what's smurfing on in here?" Nat asked. "It feels like our house isn't smurfing on the ground," Slouchy said. Sassette opened a window and saw what happened. "Giggling gooseberries, look outside! Our house is being smurfed by a tornado!" "A tornado? But that's impossible! How can there be a tornado in the Smurf Village?" Snappy asked. "I don't know, Snappy, but the only thing it smurfs to be carrying away is us," Nat said as he also looked out a window. "Yeah, but where is it taking us to?" Slouchy said. Then suddenly the house started spinning around, and the Smurflings could barely stay standing on their feet as everything went around in circles. Sassette saw that the door to their house suddenly opened, and her three friends ended up flying out of it, crying for help. "Nat! Snappy! Slouchy!" Sassette exclaimed, seeing her friends disappear with nothing that she can do about it. She hung onto her bunk bed for dear life as the house continued to spin around, being carried high in the air by the tornado. And then soon enough it came down to the ground until it landed hard, though with the house still intact. Sassette was curious as to where the playhouse had been carried to. She opened the door and looked outside, and was amazed by what she saw -- an entire village that looked much like her own, except that everything was in rich vibrant colors, more vibrant than anything she had seen Painter do any sort of painting with. She stepped out the door to see the beauty of this new world when she heard a familiar barking sound. She looked around and saw that it was Puppy -- but somehow Puppy had shrunk until he was less than Smurf-size. "Puppy! How did you get here? And how did you get like this?" Sassette asked, sounding grateful that the Smurfs' pet was with her in this strange land. She took Puppy into her arms and held him for a bit as he licked her face before dropping him back on the ground again. "Somehow I don't think we're back in the Smurf Village anymore." Then Sassette saw a bright pink bubble appear from the sky, floating towards her until it landed in front of her, and then it changed into what appeared to be Smurfette wearing a very fancy dress and hat while carrying a star-topped magic wand. "Are you a good witch or a bad witch?" the female asked. "I'm not a witch at all," Sassette replied. "I am Sassette, who comes from the Smurf Village. What is this place that I have smurfed to?" "This is the magical land of Odds, and I am Glinda the Good Witch," the female answered. "Where you have landed is in the village of Smurfkinland, which was ruled by the Wicked Witch of the East, that very same witch that your house must have killed." Sassette looked back and saw the striped stocking legs of somebody wearing smurfberry red heels lying underneath where the Smurflings' playhouse had landed. "Oh, my smurfness! I didn't mean to do that!" "What do you mean, 'you didn't mean to do that'?" another voice broke in which sounded like a female version of Gargamel's voice. They turned to see that another female being, this time with green skin and resembling Gargamel, had appeared on the scene from a thick green mist. "That is her sister, my child, the Wicked Witch of the West," Glinda pointed out. "I've come here to get the smurfberry red heels that my sister wore, for they have a magical power that only her and I know how to control," the Wicked Witch of the West said as she looked toward the house and saw the legs of the other witch still wearing the heels. But as she approached the legs, the witch saw that both the legs and the heels have disappeared. "The smurfberry red heels...where did they go?" "They're right here on the young girl's feet, which is where they will stay," Glinda answered. Sassette looked down and was surprised to find that she was now wearing the smurfberry red heels. "Babbling bluebirds!" she exclaimed. "Give me those heels right now, you little blue troublemaker," the Wicked Witch of the West demanded. "Their power means nothing to you. Give them back or I'll..." "Smurf tight inside those heels," Glinda said to Sassette. "Their magic must be very powerful, or the Wicked Witch wouldn't have wanted them so badly." "You stay out of this, Glinda, before I fix you for good," the Wicked Witch of the West scolded. "Oh, rubbish...you have no power over me or anyone here," Glinda retorted. "Now begone, before someone else smurfs a house down upon your own head." "Very well...I'll be returning to my castle and biding my time. And as for you, my fine lady, it's true that I can't attend to you like I would want to, but just you try anything, just you try...I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog, too," the Wicked Witch of the West said, cackling before she disappeared again into the thick green mist. "I'm afraid that as long as you wear the smurfberry red heels, you'll be in much danger of that wicked witch," Glinda said. "The only way for you to escape her wrath is to head to the Emerald Village and seek help from the great and powerful Wizard of Odds." "But I can't leave this place yet, Glinda," Sassette said. "My friends...the other Smurflings...they were also carried away by this tornado and they had been smurfed out of our house...I've got to see where they have been smurfed off to." "If your friends are in this place, I'm sure that you will find them along the path that leads to the Emerald Village...that path that is the yellow smurf road," Glinda said. "That's all you need to follow." And in the next moment, Glinda transformed back into the pink bubble and floated away, leaving Sassette alone with Puppy, who barked eagerly to get going. Sassette sighed. "Come on, Puppy. If the only way to find our friends is to follow the yellow smurf road, then we might as well do what Glinda says. I just hope we can find them so that we can also find a way to smurf back home." And with that, Sassette started on her journey toward the Emerald Village.

Chapter 2
Sassette found herself skipping merrily along and singing as she and Puppy followed along the yellow smurf road that Glinda the Good Witch said would lead them straight to the city of the Emerald Village. She looked around and saw how beautiful and vibrant everything was in the land of Odds, which made the beauty of the Smurf Forest seem pale by comparison. She would have wanted to enjoy the scenery a bit more if it weren't for the fact that, besides finding the Wizard of Odds, she also had to find her own friends. She soon came to a fork in the road next to a corn field as there were now three paths all leading in different directions. She stopped and looked at each of the three divergent paths. "Now which way is supposed to be the one that smurfs to the Emerald Village?" Sassette asked herself. "I think it's the path that smurfs straight ahead...or maybe the one that smurfs to the left...or maybe it's the one that smurfs to the right," a familiar voice broke in. Sassette looked around and saw a familiar face in a somewhat different form. "Nat Smurfling...is that you as the Scarecrow?" she asked as she went into the corn field to get a better look. "I'm afraid so, Sassette," Nat said. "The only thing is, I don't know how I ended up as a scarecrow, because the last thing I remember was smurfing in the playhouse with you, Snappy, and Slouchy." "Flapping flounders, that must mean the others are in the Land of Odds just waiting to be found," Sassette realized. "You've got to help me find them so we can smurf out of here." "I wish that I can smurf with you, but I can't seem to smurf anywhere as long as I'm still smurfed on this pole," Nat said. "There's got to be some way that you can smurf me down from here." Sassette went to the back of the pole and felt around behind Nat until she found a nail. She turned the nail around, and then suddenly Nat fell down from the pole, causing part of his hay stuffing to fall out. "Uh-oh," Sassette said, looking at Nat. "Here, let me help smurf you." "That's funny that I didn't even feel anything when I fell down from the pole," Nat said as he and Sassette picked up the hay and stuffed it back inside him. "It's even stranger that I seem to actually be a real scarecrow than a Smurf." "But are we in a dream or something?" Sassette said. "I only wish Empath were here to help us figure this thing out." "If we know the story, there's only one person who can help figure this out, and that's the Wizard of Odds," Nat said. "Maybe when we meet him, we will know what's up and find out how to be real Smurfs again." "What else can we do?" Sassette said. "Now if we can figure out which way we're supposed to go..." Puppy barked as he looked straight in the direction of one of the divergent paths. "Aha!" Nat said. "Puppy must have smurfed up the scent of the other Smurflings. Let's see where his nose will smurf us." "You know, this adventure could be fun, even if we're all stuck together smurfing it," Sassette said as she and Nat followed Puppy along the path on the yellow smurf road.
Soon they came into a wooded area that was full of smurfberry bushes, with berries that were much bigger than either Nat or Sassette have ever remembered seeing them. "Those berries are making me feel really hungry, Nat," Sassette said. "I wish that we could stop and smurf one of those right now." "Strangely I don't seem to have an appetite for smurfberries, Sassette," Nat said. "I know, because you're a scarecrow now," Sassette said. "I just wish that being a scarecrow didn't have to mean that..." Puppy soon barked. "What is it, Puppy?" Nat asked. "Maybe he's found either Snappy or Slouchy," Sassette said. "Let's go follow him." Puppy led the two Smurflings to a place where they saw what appeared to be a Smurfling made entirely out of tin. Sassette recognized the face of the Smurfling. "Prickly porcupines, this must be Slouchy," Sassette said. "Holy hickory nuts, he seems to be frozen in that smurf," Nat said as he examined Slouchy. "Mmmmh mmmme mmmmh mmmmoil mmmmman," Slouchy tried to speak. "What did he say, Nat?" Sassette asked. "I think he said 'give me the oil can', Sassette," Nat said. Sassette looked around and then saw the oil can. "Here it is," she said. "I'm going to try oiling him up and see if he can move." "Smurf some oil on his lips first," Nat suggested. Sassette put some oil on Slouchy's lips. Soon with a loud squeak, Slouchy was able to move his lips again. "Oh, thank smurfness you smurfed me back to life again." "How did you end up being the Tin Woodsmurf, Slouchy?" Nat asked. "I don't know, Nat," Slouchy said. "All I remember was being in the playhouse with you Smurfs, and then I fell out, and the next thing I knew, I was smurfed here, unable to move." "This oil should help keep you mobile, Slouchy," Sassette said as she oiled up the joints in Slouchy's now metal body. Slowly Slouchy began to regain his mobility, able to move his arms and legs. "If this is what being a Tin Woodsmurf is like, somebody else is more than welcome to smurf this part." "We're on our way to the Wizard of Odds to find out how we can be real Smurfs again so we can smurf out of this place," Nat said. "That means that we also have to find Snappy," Slouchy said. "And if Snappy is the character that I think he's become, finding him may not be that hard to smurf," Sassette said. "Snappy as the Cowardly Lion," Slouchy said. "I would surely love to smurf that." "Sassy, Slouchy, Puppy seems to have found Snappy's trail," Nat reported as he saw Puppy sniff the ground along the yellow Smurf road and then bark, eager to get going. "Well, let's get smurfing to find him already," Slouchy said as he tried to start walking, only to find himself feeling rather uncoordinated as he only managed to fall over. "Walloping weasels, it looks like we've got to oil Slouchy up really good if we want him to be fully mobile," Sassette said.
With Slouchy now fully oiled and mobile, the three Smurflings continued along the path of the yellow smurf road, following behind Puppy as he went after the scent of the missing Smurfling. Soon the forest got really thick and dark, as if night has fallen upon it. "I sure don't like the smurfs of this, Sassette," Nat said with some foreboding. "This forest is really starting to smurf me the creeps," Slouchy said, seeming to second Nat's emotion. "Oh, don't be such a couple of scaredy-smurfs," Sassette said. "I know Snappy has to be around here somewhere..." Suddenly they could hear a loud roar as they saw the figure of an anthropomorphic lion up ahead on the path, looking at first like a fearsome shadow. Then as the lion got closer, the three of them could see that it bore the face of somebody that looked rather familiar. "Snappy Smurfling!" Snappy laughed. "I really scared the smurfs out of you with my lion impression, didn't I? And you thought that I was a cowardly lion." "Well, you sure didn't impress me that much, Snappy," Sassette said as she slapped him in the face. "Ow! Now that really hurt!" Snappy whined. "I was just having fun being the lion in the forest, scaring away all the animals, making myself the fearsome king of the beasts...and then you smurfed along and ruined everything." "We're sorry to ruin your fun like that, Snappy, but all of us are stuck here in the Land of Odds, with me as the Scarecrow, and Slouchy as the Tin Woodsmurf," Nat said. "And me smurfing these smurfberry red heels that the Wicked Witch is after," Sassette added, showing off the heels to Snappy. "So what do you need me for?" Snappy said. "We've got to smurf out of here, and the only way to do that is to go to the Emerald Village and smurf the Wizard of Odds," Slouchy said. "That way we can smurf back to the Smurfs that we once were." "Well, have fun smurfing that, you guys," Snappy said. "I'm going to smurf my fun scaring up the animals." "Then I guess you really are a cowardly lion, Snappy...or are you afraid of the Wicked Witch?" Sassette said. "Me, afraid of a wicked witch?" Snappy said. "I'll come along with you and prove that I'm not some cowardly lion like you think I am, Sassette." "Good, now we need to smurf our way to the Emerald Village as soon as...," Sassette began to speak, before she was interrupted by Puppy's barking. "Now what's Puppy barking at?" Slouchy asked, sounding curious. The four Smurflings looked in the direction that Puppy was barking in. "There's a light at the far end of the path," Nat said. "Good work, Puppy." "Then the Emerald Village must be smurfing for us where that light is," Sassette said. "Come on, Smurflings, let's follow that light."

Chapter 3
Meanwhile, the progress of the Smurflings toward their goal was being monitored by the Wicked Witch of the West, who was seeing all this through her magic crystal ball. "So the little snip has found her three friends, eh?" the Wicked Witch said. "Well, let's see how far they shall go across the field of poppies in order to get to the Emerald Village. And I have just the spell that shall slow the little goody-goody down." She went over to a shelf to grab some magic powder she had ground up and sprinkled it over the crystal ball showing the image of the field of poppies. "Magic flowers upon such creep, send the girl off on a nice deep sleep."
The four Smurflings followed Puppy toward the light that the yellow smurf road was leading them to in the deep dark forest. Suddenly it became so bright as they saw that they were now in a wide open field. But that's not the only thing they saw. "There it is! The Emerald Village!" Sassette cried out. They took a moment to stare at the beautiful green crystalline structures that make up the village, especially the castle that was in the center, standing off in the near distance. "Wow...I have never seen such a city like this before!" Nat said. "It must have taken a lot of emeralds just to design this kind of city," Slouchy commented. "Well, what are we waiting for?" Snappy said. "We came all this way to see the Wizard, so let's get smurfing already." "Last Smurfling there is an ugly wizard named Gargamel," Sassette said, challenging her fellow Smurflings to run across the field with her. Slouchy ended up lagging behind because of his metal body, but didn't mind as he was eager to get to the city like the other Smurflings. After a while, though, Sassette started to feel herself getting tired. "Oh...what's happening to me?" she said. "I didn't think that smurfing across a field would make me feel like this." "Come on, Sassy, I'm going to beat you right to the gate," Nat said. "Sassette's not the only one who's feeling tired," Snappy said as he was also slowing down. And then the next thing, both Sassette and Snappy dropped to the ground and fell asleep. Nat and Slouchy looked down at the Smurflings that fell asleep. "Wake up, you two," Nat prompted as he and Slouchy tried to shake them awake. "You can't sleep now, not when we're this close to the Wizard." "It's no use, Nat," Slouchy said. "It must be something in these flowers that are making them fall asleep." "Something in the flowers?" Nat asked. "You mean...oh no! I should have know that's what the Wicked Witch would do to keep us from getting to the Wizard." "There's got to be something we can do," Slouchy said. "Maybe we can drag them both to the entrance." "With this body of straw that I have?" Nat said. "I'm afraid that I might end up smurfing my arms off." As both Nat and Slouchy cried out for help, Glinda the Good Witch stood afar off at a distance and used her magic wand to make it freezing cold so that it would snow. "Look, it's snowing out here," Nat said. "Maybe that should waken Snappy and Sassette up." But then he turned and saw that Slouchy became immobile again. Sassette awakened, as also did Snappy. "What happened? What am I doing smurfing on the ground?" Sassette asked. "Thank Smurfness you awakened," Nat said. "Now we need to give Slouchy some oil so that he can smurf again." Snappy yawned. "Well, that was a nice nap I had. Sure is great to see some snow on the ground, though."
Meanwhile, the Wicked Witch of the West watched the four Smurflings in the field of poppies as two of them had been awakened by the snowfall. "Curse that Glinda the Good Witch for interfering with my plans," the Wicked Witch snarled. "I'll get my hands on those smurfberry red heels yet...just you watch."
Soon with Puppy also awake, the four Smurflings made it to the entrance of the Emerald Village, where they saw two guards standing at the gate. "They must be Costaud and Temeraire from the story book," Sassette saw as soon as she saw them. "Funny, they look more like Hefty and Gutsy to me, Sassy," Snappy said. "That's Duncan, Snap," Slouchy said. "He doesn't like it when you call him Gutsy." "They sure look the part of the guards, like you said Glinda looked like Smurfette, Sassy," Nat said. "I wonder if there are any other Smurfs here who look like anybody we know." "Well, whatever, we might as well let our presence be known if we want to smurf inside," Snappy said as the four of them approached the gate. "Halt!" the first guard named Costaud said. "Do you have any business in the Emerald Village today?" "We sure do," Snappy said. "We've come all this way to see the Wizard of Odds." "The Wizard, eh?" the other guard named Temeraire said. "Nobody is allowed to see the great and powerful Wizard of Odds. Not even the people who smurf in this city are allowed to see the Wizard." "But you've got to let us see the Wizard," Slouchy said. "He's the only way that we can ever smurf back home," Nat said. "And may I ask who sent you to see the great and powerful Wizard of Odds?" Costaud asked. "Glinda the Good Witch did," Sassette said. "She's the one who smurfed me these smurfberry red heels of the Wicked Witch of the East." Both guards took a good look at Sassette's heels when she showed them. "Well, what do you know? This girl does have business in this city," Costaud said. "You and your friends may enter, my young lassie," Temeraire said, as the both of them stepped aside while they opened the gate. "Thank you very much," Sassette said as she and her friends entered the city. They were amazed by the sight of how everything in the city was in various shades of green. It looked like the very place that Tapper might feel at home being in since his favorite color was green. "Hello, and welcome to the Emerald Village," one of its citizens wearing a green-colored dress suit said as he approached them. The Smurflings noticed that he seemed to act and sound just like Vanity. "I am Marveille, your host and tour guide for your visit in our famously fabulous and breathtaking city. Is there any place that you specifically need for me to take you to?" "Uh, we're just here to find where the great and powerful Wizard of Odds lives because we have some business to smurf him for," Slouchy said. "Hmmm, some business with the Wizard," Marveille pondered. "Well, first of all, I think all four of you do need a bit of a fresher-upper since there's no way you're going to ever see the Wizard smurfing the way that you do now. Here, let me smurf you over to our world-famous boutique, and I'm sure that we can give your entire party a makeover that would be truly divine." "An entire makeover...just to see the Wizard?" Snappy said. "I don't know about that," Nat said. "It seems rather a bit too much for me." "Aw, come on, Smurflings, let's just play along and have them smurf us up so we can smurf our best," Sassette said. "Why couldn't that hurt?" The three boy Smurflings let out a sigh, realizing that Sassette may have the right idea. "Okay, we might as well smurf some time at the boutique to make us smurf a little better," Nat said. "Oh, goodie," Marveille said. "You're never going to regret this! Just follow me in this direction, please!"
A short while later, Sassette and her fellow Smurflings have stepped out of the boutique, with Sassette now wearing a fancier dress than she did when she first started off on her journey to see the wizard. "Hey, now you really smurf the part of Dorothy for sure!" Snappy said. "Well, the Cowardly Lion sure looks really handsome smurfing a bow tie," Sassette said. "And look how shiny Slouchy became after he got all polished up," Nat said. "Well, now that we're smurfing our best, why don't we see if we can find out where the Wizard of Odds lives in this city so we can smurf ourselves out of this place," Slouchy suggested. "Hey, look at that Smurf over there by the big doors to that castle," Nat said. "Maybe he can help us gain entry to see the Wizard." They went over to see that particular Smurf, whom they noticed looked and sounded like Brainy Smurf. "Ahem, what business do you gentlesmurfs have being on the doorsmurfs of the great and powerful Wizard of Odds?" the Smurf asked. "We're here to see him, because Glinda the Good Witch has given Sassette the smurfberry red heels of the Wicked Witch of the East, and only he knows how to smurf them off her feet, and how to smurf us back to being normal Smurfs, and how to smurf us back home," Snappy explained. "Hmmm, so I see," the Smurf said, looking at the four Smurflings as if scrutinizing their appearance and intentions. "Well, as the official custodian of the great and powerful Wizard of Odds, only I, Martinet Smurf, can determine who will be allowed access to see the Wizard...and from what I am able to determine from you four, I will allow you to have an audience with the great and powerful Wizard...tomorrow." "Tomorrow?!?" all four Smurflings said in unison. "But you don't understand!" Sassette said. "We need to see him today! We can't wait until tomorrow to see him!" "Of course you need to see him today," Martinet said. "Everybody needs to see him today. However, if I let everybody who wants to see him today have their way and see him today, then nothing would ever get done in the city. I'm sure that you are able to wait at least one more day so that you can take care of other important matters that do not involve him. So please run along and wait until tomorrow." "I bet we can make you let us smurf an audience with the Wizard," Snappy said. "Nobody but the great and powerful Wizard of Odds can make me, his custodian, do anything for anyone," Martinet said, sounding adamant. "Oh yeah?" Nat said, pulling out a strand of hay. "I bet we can tickle you and make you laugh." "You, tickle me, to make me laugh?" Martinet said. "That will be the day that I..." He started laughing when Nat lightly stroked him with the strand of hay on an exposed part of his body. "Hey, stop it...!" He laughed again when Nat stroked him in the same spot. "Hey, cut it out...none of you can make me...!" "Let's smurf him a tickling that he'll never forget," Slouchy whispered to Sassette. Soon the other three Smurflings joined Nat in tickling the custodian with strands of hay to make him laugh. "Oh, please, stop it...," Martinet said, trying to maintain control of himself. "You can't make me...oh, this is too much...I can't...ooh, that smurfs me right there...please, I've got to...oh, no, please, stop it...you're making me...I can't stop laughing...please, I'll do anything...just make it stop..." "So are you going to let us smurf an audience with the wizard, or are we going to make you laugh some more?" Sassette asked. "Me, let you ever have an audience with him?" Martinet protested. "I would rather die...laughing...oh, not that again...oh, please, make it stop...oh, ah, ooh, ah...this is too much...I can't resist...yes, yes...perhaps I can...oh, please...let you go see...cut it out...the wizard...today..." "Well, I'm glad to see that you are willing to cooperate," Nat said, as he watched the custodian push a button while still laughing hysterically to open the doors into the chambers of the Wizard.
The long hallway leading into the chambers looked very dark and foreboding, making the four Smurflings venture cautiously toward the end of the hallway. "I'm getting a very unsmurfy feeling about this, Sassette," Slouchy said. "Perhaps we should have waited until tomorrow to see the Wizard," Nat said. "Oh, come on, you two," Sassette said. "We didn't smurf this far just to smurf back now. Who cares if this Wizard of Odds is so creepy? We've got to ask him if he will help us smurf back home." "Somehow I don't feel so brave as I would have imagined myself to be right now," Snappy said, feeling a lump forming in his throat. Inside the chamber at the end of the hall, there was a monstrous organ that belched out fire and smoke, and suddenly appearing above it was a face that almost looked like that of Papa Smurf. "Halt! Who dares to summon the great and powerful Wizard of Odds?" the face demanded. Sassette found herself trembling as she approached. "I-I-I do, sir. My name is Sassette, the small and meek, and these are my friends, who names are..." "Silence!" the Wizard boomed, causing fire and smoke to belch out and scare Sassette and the other three Smurflings. "I know who you are, both you and your friends. I have sensed the very reason that you have come to see me." "Oh, so you know?" Nat asked. "Well, that's, uh, very...great of you, Mister..." "Silence!" the Wizard boomed. "You do not need to say anything more. I am able to help you regain your true forms and to send you all home...but first I need you to do something for me. The broomstick of the Wicked Witch of the West...bring it to me and you shall have your reward." "The broomstick?" Snappy asked. "Uh, sure, whatever you want, but how do you want us to..." "You will know how to get it!" the Wizard said. "The great and powerful Wizard of Odds has spoken!"

Chapter 4
The Wicked Witch of the West watched through her crystal ball as the four Smurflings are now making their way toward her castle. "So that Wizard has sent them come after me, hasn't he?" the witch said. "He doesn't realize that he's sending me the very thing that I'm after...the smurfberry red heels that that no-good do-gooder is wearing. Maybe it's time to send my army of flying monkeys to capture her and her little dog...the others they can do with them as they see fit."
The Smurflings looked around carefully on the path they were now taking toward the castle of the Wicked Witch, a path that looked creepier than the one that they took through the forest to get to the Emerald Village. Sassette was armed with a butterfly net, Snappy carried a mallet, Slouchy was armed with his ax, and Nat carried a pitchfork. "Maybe this wasn't such a great idea after all...going after the Wicked Witch's broomstick when we have no idea how to even destroy her," Snappy said. "What's the matter, Snappy?" Sassette said. "I thought you liked the idea of being a lone hero in a story." "Reading about the Wicked Witch in a story book is one thing, but actually living out what she could possibly do...I think I'd rather be home smurfing in bed right about now," Snappy said. "Well, we can't smurf anything about it except to do what the Wizard of Odds asks of us, which is part of the story," Nat said. "If we know what's going to happen to us according to the story, then this shouldn't be a problem, right?" Slouchy said. Suddenly Nat was grabbed and taken up into the canopy of the trees before he was then immediately dropped back to the ground with some of his stuffing falling out. "Okay, that's it...we're smurfing back to the Emerald Village and smurfing this some other time," Snappy said, looking like he was ready to retreat. "Now you really are a coward, Snappy," Sassette said. "If you knew this was going to be dangerous, you wouldn't be smurfing this thing all by yourself now." "I sure wouldn't smurf this by myself, Sassy," Nat said as he stuffed himself up again. "Whatever happens, let's stick together and try to handle things as a team." "I'm smurfing right there with you on that, Nat," Slouchy said. Suddenly there was a shrieking sound as the Smurflings heard and saw the flying monkeys swarming down on them. The three boy Smurflings tried to get the flying monkeys away from them as well as from Sassette, but unfortunately they failed as Nat got torn apart and Sassette was captured along with Puppy. "Uh-oh," Slouchy said as the flying monkeys then departed from the scene with their captured prey. "I just hope Sassette doesn't give up the smurfberry red heels to that witch." "In the meantime, why not help me get smurfed back together?" Nat said, sounding very upset that the flying monkeys would scatter his parts all around the path. "Just hold on a minute until we get all the pieces of you," Snappy said as he and Slouchy looked around for Nat's body parts.
Inside the Wicked Witch's castle, Sassette found herself facing the witch herself. "It's so nice of you to visit me in my loneliness," the witch said. "I believe you have something of mine on the feet, so if you don't mind, I would like for you to give them to me." "Well, if you want them so badly, why don't you try smurfing them off yourself?" Sassette said. "Don't think that I won't try," the Wicked Witch said. She reached down to grab the smurfberry red heels, but felt a painful shock before she could even touch them. "Aaaaah!" she screamed. "That goody-goody Glinda has cast a spell on the shoes so that they can never be removed. I guess that only means one thing...I will have to cast a spell on you so that if I can't remove the shoes from you, then I must remove you from the shoes." Suddenly Puppy started running out the door of the witch's laboratory and down the stairs. "Go, Puppy, let the others know where I am," Sassette cried out. "Guards, stop that dog!" the Wicked Witch commanded. The guards tried as they could, even to close up the drawbridge, but Puppy managed to escape and run away. "Yes, he did it! He got away! The others will come for me, and you won't stop them," Sassette said proudly. "Let's see them try to do so before the sands of this hourglass run out, my dearie, because that's how long you have left to live," the Wicked Witch said as she turned the hourglass and caused it to start running before she left the laboratory and locked Sassette inside it. Sassette looked out the window, her confidence fading as she was beginning to realize that this may all be for real. Her hope now lies with Puppy reaching the others to lead them the rest of the way to the castle.
Back down in the place where the flying monkeys had assaulted the Smurflings, Snappy and Slouchy have finished putting Nat back together again. He was trying to get himself coordinated enough to start walking straight when they saw Puppy coming towards them, barking excitedly. "You know the way to the Wicked Witch's castle?" Snappy said. "How did you escape?" "Never mind how he managed to escape...what matters is how we're going to get ourselves in," Nat said. "Let's follow Puppy and see if there is a way to smurf into the castle without being seen," Slouchy said. The three Smurflings followed Puppy until they were outside the castle's gate, watching the guards march around in formation and chanting. "Okay, that part's not going to be as easy as it seems," Slouchy said. "We've just got to get ourselves some guard uniforms and smurf in with the crowd," Nat said. "Great plan, but how do we get ourselves some guard uniforms?" Snappy asked. Their answer came when they found themselves jumped by a trio of guards who found them hiding behind a small hill. There was a brief flurry of a scuffle going on before Nat, Snappy, and Slouchy appeared wearing the guard uniforms. "There's our chance, you guys," Nat said. "Let's smurf in behind those guards and follow them into the castle." The three Smurflings sneaked in behind the guards and followed them into the castle with Puppy tagging along before the drawbridge had closed up. Then they separated and ditched the guard uniforms. "Now where are we supposed to go now?" Snappy asked. Puppy barked as he raced up a set of stairs nearby. "That room up there must be where the witch is keeping Sassette prisoner," Slouchy said. They quickly went up the stairs and knocked on the door. "Sassette?" Sassette heard the knocking. "Nat! Snappy! Slouchy! Thank Smurfness you're here! Quick, there isn't much time before the sands smurf out!" "Let me handle this," Slouchy said as he swung his ax. He struck near the handle of the door repeatedly to break through and get it to open, trying to do it as quickly as possible. "Boy, this is sure easier done in the book than it is in real-life," Slouchy grunted. "Please! The sands are almost gone!" Sassette pleaded. Suddenly the door had broken open, and Sassette rushed out to greet her rescuers. "I was beginning to worry that you wouldn't smurf me out in time," she said, sounding very grateful. "Let's get ourselves smurfing out of here already," Snappy said. "Wait a minute, Snappy...we still have to get the Wicked Witch's broomstick," Nat said. "Let's just get downstairs and hope the Wicked Witch knows what we're doing," Slouchy said. The four Smurflings quickly rushed downstairs, only to find that the drawbridge has been closed up and that the guards have them completely surrounded. The Wicked Witch appeared at the balcony overlooking the room they were in. "Leaving so soon? I wouldn't dream of that," she said, sounding pleased that she has them right where she wants them. "Why, my little party is just beginning." Slouchy saw a rope holding up a chandelier right above the guards and quickly cut the rope, causing the chandelier to fall down right upon the guards and trap them. They quickly ran right past them and up another set of stairs. "You fools," the Wicked Witch hissed, "You're letting them get away. I want half of you to go one way and half of you to go the other way. We can't let them escape as long as that little blue troublemaker has the smurfberry red heels." The guards split up and went in different directions as the four Smurflings ran along the battlements, only to find themselves trapped as the guards closed them in on both sides. There was no way for them to escape. The Wicked Witch showed up on the battlement where the Smurflings were trapped. "Oh, ring around the rosies, a pocket full of spears," she said. "It seems that I will have my smurfberry red heels after all. The last one to go will see the first three go before her, and her mangy little dog too." She reached out toward a lighted torch with her broomstick and set the end of it on fire. "How about a little fire, scarecrow?" Nat screamed as the Wicked Witch set his arm on fire. Sassette looked around for something to put it out with and saw a bucket of water. "No, don't touch that...," the witch cried out. Sassette threw the bucket of water onto Nat's arm to douse the flame. The water also hit the Wicked Witch, causing her to scream loudly and to start melting. "You cursed little brat...look what you've done!" the Wicked Witch shrieked. "I'm melting...melting...oh, what a world, what a world...who would have thought that a good little girl like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness...oh, look out...look out...I'm gone..." The guards looked at what was left of the Wicked Witch, which was nothing but a hat and her robe. "You...you destroyed her," one of the guards said. "I really didn't mean to do it," Sassette said. "It's just that Nat's arm is on fire." "Yeah, yeah, yeah, we know the rest," Snappy said. "Can we please have the Wicked Witch's broomstick right now?" "Here, you can do with it whatever you wish," the guard said as he handed Sassette the broomstick while the other guards bowed down before them. "I guess that part's taken care of, Smurflings," Nat said. "Now let's return to the Wizard of Odds and smurf our reward."

Chapter 5
Soon the four Smurflings returned to the chamber of the Wizard of Odds. "Here is the broomstick you have smurfed for, and the Wicked Witch is all dead," Sassette said, presenting the broomstick before the vision of the Wizard. "So you liquidated her...how very resourceful," the Wizard said. "Very well...come back tomorrow and you shall have your reward." "Tomorrow?!?" all four Smurflings said together. "We didn't bust our smurfs to get your crummy broomstick just so we can smurf back tomorrow and get our reward," Snappy said. "We want you to smurf it to us right now." "I said come back tomorrow!" the Wizard boomed. "The great and powerful Wizard of Odds has spoken!" Suddenly Puppy saw something moving behind a curtain, and then ran over and yanked on it until it fell down. Behind the curtain, the Smurflings saw a Smurf that almost resembled Empath wearing a dress suit operating a machine. "Pay no attention to the Smurf behind the curtain," the Wizard said. "The great and powerful Wizard of Odds has spoken!" But none of them turned away from the Smurf they now saw was behind the curtain. "Okay, just who the smurf are you, really?" Snappy asked. "Yeah, and why are you pretending to be a wizard when you're not?" Sassette asked. The Smurf behind the curtain turned to face the Smurflings. "The truth is is that you're not really in the land of Odds, and I am not really Empath or the Wizard of Odds, and none of the characters you have met here really exist at all," the Smurf answered. "They're not? Then where are we really in...a dream?" Nat asked. "I'm afraid so, and one that Gargamel the evil wizard had cast you in with the help of the dream spirit Morphio," the Smurf answered. "He wanted to have one last attempt to get even with the Smurfs, and so he bargained with Morphio that if he could keep you trapped within one of your favorite bedtime stories, then none of you would ever escape from it." "That was Gargamel's plan...to trap us in the land of Odds?" Slouchy said. "It didn't matter to him which story it was...what Morphio was after was the smurfberry red heels, which were the only way out for all of you, for if Morphio had gotten his hands on the heels through the Wicked Witch, then none of you would be able to escape this dream," the Smurf said. "Well, that was certainly a lousy plan," Snappy said. "Gargamel should have known that we smurfed this story so many times before that we'd be able to figure our way out of this." "You mean...the smurfberry red heels can smurf me and my fellow Smurflings out of this dream that we're in together?" Sassette asked. "Anytime the four of you are ready to do so," the Smurf answered. "All you have to do is click your heels three times and say 'there is no place like home'." "So what are we waiting for?" Nat said. "Come on, let's join hands while Sassette clicks her heels together." The four Smurflings joined hands together as Sassette clicked her heels, and the four of them said, "There is no place like home...there is no place like home...there is no place like home..."
And as the world of the land of Odds faded, the Smurflings found themselves back home in the Smurf Village lying in their beds, awakening to find out that it was now morning, and with them inside their playhouse was Empath, Smurfette, and Papa Smurf. "Good morning, my little Smurflings," Papa Smurf greeted. "I was wondering when you were going to wake up." "Papa Smurf," Snappy shouted as he jumped out of bed into Papa Smurf's arms. "Smurfette," Sassette shouted as she jumped out of bed into Smurfette's arms. "Empath," Nat and Slouchy shouted as they jumped out of bed to hug Empath. "Salutations, my fellow Smurflings," Empath said, smiling. "You seem pretty happy to see us being in your house when we were wondering why you didn't show up for breakfast." "All four of us have been smurfed in a dream, Pappy Smurf," Sassette said. "It was like we were in the land of Odds together. I was Dorothy, and Nat was the Scarecrow, and Slouchy was the Tin Woodsmurf, and Snappy was the Cowardly Lion." "You should have been there, Empath," Snappy said. "It was the most exciting story that any of us have ever lived, and it was so real that none of us ever thought that we were really dreaming it." "This smurf believes you, Snappy," Empath said. "What happened in your dream must have been really remarkable to have left such an impression on you and your fellow Smurflings." "You had us all worried there, Sassette," Smurfette said. "When Empath sensed that there was some sort of magic spell that was smurfed upon you, we didn't think you would ever awaken." "It wasn't the kind of dream that we wouldn't know how to smurf ourselves out of, Smurfette, given how many times we smurfed the same bedtime story," Slouchy said. "Then it was fortunate that through the dream you found each other and worked together to smurf yourselves awake," Papa Smurf said. "I still can't help feeling that everything in it was so real, Empath," Sassette said. "I really felt that I was in the land of Odds, and it was so beautiful that I wish that it was a real place that I can smurf back to again." "Perhaps someday you shall, when Handy gets the Imaginarium up and running again, Sassette," Empath said. "And maybe in that someday, this smurf might join you on your journey to that magical land, somewhere over the rainbow."
