Surely not!
As if all that rigmarole about satanism, Communism and racism (Ku Klux Klan) among the Smurfs wasn't enough (more about here), there's also those who insinuated that they would be Nazis because of Smurfette, who was brunette before, turned into blonde (ideal of Aryan beauty); and Gargamel would represent the typical Jew of anti-Semitic caricatures because of his appearance (big nose) plus the obsession to capture the Smurfs to make gold of them. Nonsense: in my opinion he's just a satire on alchemists and wizards of that age, longing to find the philosopher's stone. ![[Gargamel]](graemlins/gargamel.gif)
And concerning Smurfette, well, Gargy hadn't skill enough to make a true beauty of her in order to fool the Smurfs. Blondes are often associated with the so-called femmes fatales (eg in some classic film noir movies). Everysmurf must remember that Smurfette only succeeded in bringing about some damage in Smurf village (when she had persuaded Poet Smurf to open the Smurf River dam) after she got beautiful thanks to Papa Smurf. ![[Smurfette]](graemlins/smurfette.gif) ![[Smile]](smile.gif)
People like that get on my nerves. They seem to forget that originally the Smurfs is a comic strip made specially for children, in order to amuse and transmit good ideas. ![[Frown]](frown.gif)

I totally agree with Squeaky, it's really annoying when people say stuff like this... On top of what Squeaky has presented, I have also seen people say,"Well, Peyo was originally german, so it would only make since..."
Nothing, I repeat nothing that Peyo ever created had a Nazi meaning to it! It was a children's comic with no intentions of anything like this!

I agree! The smurfs surely are not fascist!
Didn't Brainy become "King Brainy" in the book "The Smurfs and the Book That Tells Everything," when he moved to the old tower and kept the book to himself?

Actually, no! King Brainey was an episode in the cartoon series. In "the book that tells everything", Brainey wasn't a king at all. he was just being an even more "know-it-all".
