I remember feeling this season would be the last. The changes were getting old fast. I was not surprised this season killed the show, but it had 8 good seasons. Maybe if they ended the time traveling after a few episodes, or showed the Smurfs left behind in their own adventures from time to time, the show might have survived.
I was wondering, did the Smurfs ever get back to their own time? Was this ever resolved, or did the season end with them stuck time travelling?
And while I'm at it, I wonder what happened to the Smurfs left behind in the village without Papa Smurf there to guide and protect them with his potions and spells?

Sorry to tell you, they never got back home. Part of why I'm incorporating the Season 9 stories as part of the Smurfs history in the Empath: The Luckiest Smurf stories, albeit modified in the fact that the entire village went missing. Although my stories focus mostly on the main character Empath and his few supporting characters while most of the Smurfs are peripheral characters.

Though Season 9 left on a cliffhanger I'm going to presume that they find the original area where they first dropped in when it was The Stone Age in the near future. The key which sank in the volcano lava is recovered fossilized in stone and they get back home after it's fixed in some magical way.

In the Empath: The Luckiest Smurf story series it's called the Key Of Chronos, and the intention is that although it was destroyed, it was somehow copied and got stuck in a cave that Empath, Polaris, and a magical copy of Baby Smurf (who became an elderly Smurf named Miracle Smurf) had found somewhere in North America.

But, actually, how where the Smurfs around in the Movie though? They probably did get home, but probably not for a little while.... ![[Eek!]](eek.gif)

The Smurfs Movie DOES NOT take place in the same continuity as the cartoon show or the comic books.
