CENTRAL PARK- Belvedere Castle

Central Park's Belvedere Castle offers park goers exactly what its name implies. Sitting high on top of Vista Rock, the second highest natural elevation in the park, the castle is located mid-park at 79th Street. And with its two balconies, it supplies wonderful panoramic views that include some of Central Park's most beautiful and famous landmarks.

I've been to Times Square many times, so it was so cool seeing the familiar areas in Times Square that I've seen in person to see in the movie. I still have yet to go to Central Park, though. I never heard of Belvedere Castle. So it's open to the public? I'll definitely have to go there. I would like to find that little water fall the Smurfs came out of the portal from if that is in fact a real water fall there. Can that be confirmed by anyone?

FAO SCHWARZ

One of the most famous toy stores in New York City - and, for that matter, one of the most famous toy stores in the world - FAO Schwarz was founded in 1862 by Frederick August Otto Schwarz, a German immigrant and toy retailer. A popular kid-friendly NYC attraction for almost 150 years, FAO Schwarz distinguishes itself from other toy stores in NYC with its huge selection of toys, games, books, and displays, and its old-fashioned charm. This world-famous toy emporium is a treat for all visitors to New York City!

P.S.- About the little waterfall where the portal transports the Smurfs to Central Park; although the scene was shot on location in Central Park, between Fifth Avenue and Central Park South, there is no waterfall there. The real waterfall in the park is in Prospect Park. Many scenes were also shot in Prospect Park on location too.

SOHO- Housing Works Bookstore Cafe, 126 Crosby Street and Prince Street, Manhattan.

This bookstore was featured in 2 movies: Sidewalks in New York" (2001) and "Dedication" (2007). When I found this bookstore, it was where you buy used or old books and there is also a cafe. In the film however, according to the Daily News cover article on "Smurfs", they remodeled the storefront as "Mr. Wong's Mystical Emporium". When I went inside I can tell they redecorated the inside and upstairs with props and furniture that is like in Chinatown's old-style shops, such as Mr. Wing's antique shop in "Gremlins" (1984), where we first meet Gizmo, the cute Mogwai, and also the Arcana Cabana from "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" (2010). Here are more photos of the store.
