Some royal A-hole is going around DA, breaking into accounts and sending messages to all their contacts. ACT QUICK, your account might be (or may have already been) broken into.
This person or persons is using accounts to send a message saying your pictures are being used on some blog without your permission. the link to the site does not work, and once you enter it your account will be broken into, and used to spread said message between your contacts.
CHECK YOUR RECENT ACTIVITY TO SEE IF YOU HAVE SENT ANY MESSAGES YOU'RE NOT AWARE OF.
INFORM YOUR FRIENDS OF THIS BY PUTTING IT UP ON YOUR DA JOURNAL.
DO NOT OPEN ANY LINKS IN MESSAGES YOU RECIEVE FROM YOUR CONTACTS.
CHANGE YOUR EMAIL AND PASSWORD.
SEND A HARRASMENT MESSAGE UNDER 'CONTACT US'.

My goodness! I'd just signed up DeviantArt recently, Divine Sheep, but I didn't put any work of mine yet. I looked at my link and I found a message of a certain $Stykera, telling about a question that I had formulated regarding my account. Do you know if he is a member of DeviantArt? Is he reliable? Many thanks for your warning.

Wow, I'll certianly check and see if my account had been violated like that, plus warn others on my contact list. Thanks for the info...how did you discover this, btw?
Squeaky Smurf: $Stykera sounds like one of the moderators of DA...probably just showing you some options to work with.

I'm afraid it has nothing to do with reliability, the accounts exist, it's just that someone is getting hold of others' passwords, and using their accounts without them knowing.
My account has also been broken into, and messages from my account are still being sent even after I changed my password and email. I wouldn't open anything for now.
For more information just read my journal, I keep updating this warning whenever I find out anything new.

Oh and RC, I found this out when I noticed messages and notes were being sent from my account right after I opened the link, that read the exact same thing I recieved.
Also, I recieved comments from my contacts, thanking me and saying the link didn't work.
The message reads "I think I saw your picture on this blog" or something like that, followed by the link.

Thanks, Raven, for taking out my doubt. Divine Sheep, did you tell the moderators about what happened to you? I haven't another e-mail at the moment but I won't put anything in my account for a long while.

Don't worry too much Squeaky, I've informed many of my contacts, and also requested on my journal for people to repost the warning on their front page. With everyone's help I'm sure this problem will be taken care of soon.
I swear I'm so worked up about this thing, I've got the shakes! ![[Frown]](frown.gif)

I didn't know you had a DA account...would you mind putting it up? I would love to see and comment on your works.

This is actually old news as it was something that was happening about a week ago. DA has released a note saying they have it taken care of.

I warned Shane J about that and he'd just told me he saw these warnings last week, and that DA has it all under control now and it shouldn't be worrysome anymore. ![[Wild Smurf]](graemlins/Wild_Smurf.gif)

Still, Squeaky and Shane...doesn't hurt to keep in mind that these types of people are still out there and are possibly still trying sending these false messages. Personally I never heard of this till today. Now that I know about it I can watch out for it if I ever receive a message like it ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

So here's the deal, appearantly this crud has been delt with, but keeps re-appearing for about a month now. We can all take a deep breath and relax- other then forwarding the message nothing else is done with the hacked accounts, which means maybe this is just a spambot and not an actual person. At any rate, opening links sent on DA in the coming weeks is not advised.
I'm just really angry that the links are sent to accounts from their own contacts, I mean, how can you tell?! it could be the actual person sending you something cool! ![[Mad]](mad.gif)

I've been getting a few of those messages from a couple of my watchers who fell for the link. I did not click on the links, and I hid the comments.
