In addition to reposting all the previous installments of Reporter's Inside Stories on my site, I've now included one new Inside Story to the collection -- that of Barber Smurf. You can find that and any future installments in the Reporter's Inside Stories page.

I've watched a few episodes of Justice League here and there, including one where they travel to a parallel universe where they think they ran into their parallel counterparts, the Justice Guild, only to find out that they are actually constructs from some sort of mutant being's mind.Anyway, I've long been inspired by the superhero adventures of DC Comics, since I used to be a big collector of them in the late 1980s, including titles such as Young All-Stars, Justice League, Captain Atom, Blue Beetle, Superman, Secret Origins, and occasional issues of Infinity, Inc. Besides Empath being somewhat an analog of Superman, another character who's been part of the Empath stories, Traveler Smurf, is based on the DC Comics character Waverider from Armageddon 2001 and Zero Hour, while also named from A Flock Of Seagulls song, "The Traveller". The Green Lamp Smurf character, who's not part of the Empath stories but may be featured elsewhere, is based more on the Golden Age version of the Green Lantern from the Justice Society (the 1940s-50s era) than on the modern-day versions. You think Green Lamp Smurf is something, wait 'til you see Wonder Smurfette!!!

As an interesting bit of trivia, the part of Scripture that Barber is paraphrasing from is a verse from 1 Corinthians chapter 12.

An update of the Reporter's Inside Stories section:
Barber's interview is no longer on the site (I'm thinking of doing some minor revisions to it), but there are two new character interviews posted: Tapper (my EMPATH fanfiction creation) and Tailor. I'm also busy working on an interview with Vanity.

That sounds really cool, Vic. I know I mention Sweepy a lot, but it would be cool to have an interview with him as well.

Sweepy's interview may require some work, due to his being used only in one episode in the cartoon show, and his connections with Empath in my fanfiction stories are rather tenuous, mostly as a name mention rather than an active player. Besides, I know very little about what chimney sweeps actually do and how important their jobs really are even to like small village of 100, so that may take a while if that even happens.
Right now, I'm finished with the Vanity interview. The next one I want to start doing is one with Jokey.

I decided to have fun with Clumsy's interview by having him sound a bit like Bill Callaway's version, only to have Anton Yelchin's version take over as "the real Clumsy" for the rest of the interview, suggesting that the Bill Callaway voice is mostly done because Clumsy is rather shy.

Now I'm thinking of creating a story where Clumsy decides to come out with his true personality -- the one that he exhibited in the Reporter's Inside Story -- and having to deal with how his friends once perceived him as "dumb and fun" with the Bill Callaway voice and personality being a mask for the Anton Yelchin-type voice and personality that he was afraid to let everybody see. I'd like to see how that affects his relationship with Brainy when he finds out that the "dumb voice Clumsy" just isn't really him.

The ones I created before I did the ones for Duncan, Narrator, Clumsy, Brainy, Grouchy, and Century were done before the 2011 movie came out, so at the time there wasn't a Duncan, Narrator, or even a Crazy Smurf to refer to, much less the ones that I added from the comic books when D.A. Martin from Smurfs Wiki and Wiki Pitufos alerted me to their existence in the past two years. It was mostly characters from the cartoon show that were part of the EMPATH story series, plus a few comic book characters and a few originals like Tapper.
The interview with Grouchy required a bit of tinkering with the character, so I had him talking like he was some version of George Lopez's interpretation of Grouchy from the movie.
Brainy's interview was the one I wanted to create for a long time, but wasn't sure how to because most of what I knew of his character was that he liked to spew out well-worn proverbs until he got bonked in the head or hurled out of the village. It's after seeing the cartoons again that I thought I should focus on his attitude of being recognized for his intelligence.
