I know that The Smurfs is available in other countries on Cartoon Network. I have the channel at home but i've never watched The Smurfs b4... In the August issue of my local cable vision guidebook, it's says that Smurfs r coming to the Cartoon Network in Singapore. I was very excited about it and waited for the day to come. I rushed home from school and sat in front of the TV...and waited...and waited...but The Smurfs was never shown...instead i got Captain Planet. I was so disappointed. For the next few days, i did the same thing, waited and waited in vain. I've now since gave up waiting for The Smurfs to appear on Cartoon Network.

BTW, that's Smurfs Adventures you've been waiting for -- the syndicated version that Cartoon Network's been airing. A good deal of the episodes have been edited down and time-compressed to fit the 30-minute time slot, and they don't even air the multi-part episodes like Smurfquest, which introduces Grandpa Smurf to the group. Me, I'd rather see Warner Bros. or somebody get on the stick and release the classic episodes, unedited and uncompressed, on video. And I mean MORE than just those few tapes that already exist.

Moonie, the Smurfs are shuffled around a lot. I mean, a LOT. They're not #1 on Cartoon Network's list, as far as I know. What was on Cartoon Network this weekend, Moonie? For us, it was a very strange sort of event, called "Cartoon Cartoon Weekend". Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls, Cow & Chicken were showed all weekend long. Not that I'm complaining, I can never get enough of Dexter or Johnny Bravo. I *thought* the Smurfs were supposed to be on Saturday, but Dexter was on instead. Perhaps when September comes, it will return. Or maybe you have a different version of Cartoon Network Moonie? Did you get the Cartoon Cartoon Weekend this weekend? It would be interesting if there were differences between the services.

Hey Vic! Have you noticed they even sped up the tape on some episodes? The voices are noticebly faster on some shows. A shame...

I know some of them are speeded up like that. It's what you call time compression. It was basically done to make sure the shorter episodes would fit into the 30-minute time slot, though it also causes the characters' voices to sound more heliumish.

Hey Moonie! The Smurfs were on Saturday (yesterday) at 7 AM Central time (which I think is -6 GMT but I'm not sure) on Cartoon Network.

Sounds like we need to have a Cartoon Network 2 or even 3 for all the cartoons they air, so that the old cartoon shows don't get bumped into oblivion!
