Recently I found myself listening to the The Smurfs Party Time and had the thought that the singer's pitched-up "Smurf" voice sounds a whole lot like Alvin and the Chipmunks. This got me thinking about Chipmunks on 16 Speed, an artist who, as the name implies, releases edits of the Chipmunks' songs where the record is slowed to 16 RPM.
Modifying the songs this way lets the singer's real voice shine through, along with some neat, grungey effects on the instruments. I wondered what the Smurfs album would sound with this treatment.
Though, I don't have a record of the Smurfs album, let alone a record player, so I had to rely on digital editing. I think they turned out fantastic
Some songs reacted to the slowing better than others, what is your favorite? I really like Mr. Pigeon, Lazy's Song, Gargamel, Purple Peter, and Smurf Party.
The ending of the joking smurf is very scary! Is this what Jokey's brain sounds like!?
P.S - The image is of my handmade Clumsy sitting in my headphones - I'll post about him and his friend Vanity (who moved to Ohio) soon

I created a sped-up version of Peter Schilling's "Major Tom (Coming Home)" by using Audacity to speed up the audio, and labeled it as the Smurfs singing.
