Hi all! This is my first post here so forgive me for any unsmurfy formatting!
Last night my boyfriend woke me to show me this image, we knew of the upcoming cartoon already with a previous image only giving us a back view of the cast. I hate to be a complainer but... oh boy.
I really dislike the visuals/redesigns personally speaking, we weren't given names for the new characters so I can't say much about them. All I will say is I just wish we had Sabina :/ also where's Bayard and Biquette lol?
I don't want to be that guy campaigning for a complete overhaul ala Sonic Movie style, but why is it so hard for reboots to NOT make their ips ugly?!!! Is it that hard to keep your own character looking like themselves?! Johan and Peewit are only recognizable by their clothing, their faces... look nothing like them. Why is Peewit's head so tall when it's meant be wide like Hey Arnold? I have tons of other nitpicks such as Johan's hairstyle, (I miss the bob!!) The separated and colored eyes- which I know have existed since Lost Village, but I just personally prefer the black eyes- the detailed colored eyes are a bit uncanny!
I'm sure I'm just rambling at this point, but it really is frustrating to see something you love so dearly seemingly being kicked to death perpetually if it isn't just collecting dust. I miss the Hanna-Barbera era so bad, I miss The King, I miss Sabina, I miss King Gerard (I know he was cartoon exclusive but still!) and Clockwork.
What are your thoughts on the reboot? Do you think it'll be a hit? My fear is it'll only get one or two seasons and be forgotten ![[Frown]](frown.gif)

 Hanna-Barbera Johan & Peewit
Smurfy Welcome, Gamecube Wizard Smurf!
Thanks for sharing about the new Johan & Peewit cartoon. I am curious what the voices will be like after seeing their new look. I also have a soft spot for the old Hanna-Barbera Smurfs with Johan & Peewee.
Check out more about the new TV series and see Johan & Peewit collectibles...

Thanks for the smurfy welcome Sassette!
I just wanted to update this post to show off an edit my boyfriend made of the image I shared yesterday, he only edited the faces- primarily focusing on Johan, Peewit and the Smurf. We weren't too sure how to go about tweaking the new characters as they are in a completely different style all together, but tried to give them more Hanna-Barbera adjacent faces. It's not perfect obviously but I certainly think Johan at least looks like himself!

I’m honestly not a big fan of the plot that they described in the info section. I just don’t understand why Johan would need "mysterious origins" when, if you have read the comics, it’s pretty obvious what it is. A little boy that was likely born the son of a knight, became the page of Count Tremaine, and then advanced to being a squire that goes on adventures to protect his kingdom. Though, just as I was typing this, I realized that maybe the mysterious origins may strand from the son of a knight part? I don’t know. Also, I agree with Gamecube that the designs look… off. Peewit looks very uncanny and I cannot take him seriously. Also, also, for the adding Sabina thing, I don’t think they’d be able to do that because she was also exclusively made for the Hanna-Barbara cartoon. Anyway, these are just my thoughts as the awesomemess Johan and Peewit fan to evar exist

In the EMPATH story series, Johan is actually a young boy named Jochanan ben Mephibosheth, who was orphaned and raised by Homnibus the enchanter until he was old enough to be sponsored as a squire. He was intended in the series to be descended from Jonathan the son of King Saul from the Bible.

My Tales of Johan and Peewit edit I want to show off too I made two versions where Johan’s hair is altered between short and bobbed. I would’ve edited the Smurf a bit too but Peewit took too long for me to want to
Sorry that the images are huge

I lowkey had a dream in a dream where a new Smurfs movie clip dropped and Johan and Peewit were in it and Peewit had this weird wooden flying robot thing that could do anything. The main character was some random that probably came from the real world and, yes, there were about three smurfs following them. Basically, Johan was on this small unstable rock platform (presumably climbing down) attached to some high place and I guess also presumably, Peewit was trying to use his robot with the main and the smurfs but he failed and landed exactly where Johan was and the platform collapsed but then the robot locked in and saved them all and flew them to grassy ground. After that they like praise it for doing good and walk off to do adventure stuff idk. And then I woke up
(I also dreamt that when dream me woke up I went to bluebuddies to talk about my dream)

NEW NEWS! When I was looking for images of Johan and Peewit I stumbled upon the Peyo Company website (which I initially thought was fake because it looked unprofessional due to the use of fanart on it) and I found this image This is the most high quality image of the promo and they are now referring to the Tales of Johan and Peewit as CursedLand
The new series is set to release in 2028 instead of the original 2027 (why such a long wait?)
Also, when you scroll to the bottom of the website, you will see Johan and Peewit’s silhouettes (edited to see them better)
That’s all

They better be using all that time to fix those ugly redesigns, I’m not sure what happened after the first concept art reveal where Peewit actually looked like PEEWIT

Hmm, why do cute, pleasing, simple designs always get beaten into the dirt nowadays? They're going for a dark, mature type of feel, but Adventure Time had many scary/serious moments and the style didn't detract from it at all. As well, it looks like they're trying to make the smurf look cool and serious? A Smurf is the cutest, least threatening creature in the world!
The Smurf makes me think of this picture:

I agree, Deinonychus. They’re trying so hard to make this new series look serious, but it’s backfiring and making it look really goofy instead ![[Razz]](tongue.gif)
