The Revenge of the Smurfs - Playthrough
The Revenge of the Smurfs
Also Called : La Revanche des Schtroumpfs Also Called : Revenge of the Smurfs Published by: Infogrames Developed by: Bit Managers Age Rating : Everyone Release Date: October 11, 2002
Platform: Game Boy Advance
Revenge of the Smurfs
Revenge of the Smurfs is a 2D platformer developed by Bit Managers exclusively for the Game Boy Advance. The game is an adaptation of their earlier title, The Smurfs and was only released in Europe.
There are five playable characters: Hefty Smurf, Jokey Smurf, Brainy Smurf, Greedy Smurf, or take the reins of the Hefty Minecart or Hefty Sled.
Gameplay
Players control a brave Smurf venturing into the treacherous forest on a rescue mission to free his fellow Smurfs, held captive by Gargamel. The journey is fraught with peril, but Smurf can collect valuable bonus items to aid his quest. Sarsaparilla leaves increase Smurf's life count, providing extra chances, while raspberries replenish his energy. Each section of the forest presents unique dangers that require careful navigation and skillful platforming. The game starts with Smurf making his way through Smurf Village.
Revenge of the Smurfs features five Smurf mini-games:- The Attack of the Howlibird
- The Flying Smurf
- Apple Bobbing on the River Smurf
- The Smurf River Crossing
- The Bzz Fly Strikes
Key Differences from The Smurfs- Non-Linear Level Progression: Unlike the The Smurfs where levels had to be completed in a set order to reach a boss, Revenge of the Smurfs allows players to tackle levels within each section in any order. However, all levels within a section must be completed before facing the boss who guards the path to the next area.
- Unlimited Lives: Players enjoy an unlimited number of Smurf lives, removing the pressure of game-over scenarios and encouraging exploration.
This title marked the final Smurfs game published by Infogrames.

I have two copies of that game that I got from eBay. I liked playing it, but there was one level that I could never get fully past because of a jump. I think it's an improved version of the 16-bit Smurfs game that the American SNES owners never got to play outside of emulation.
