Every Smurf fans, I have some opinions to discuss. I didn't care much for Season 9. Most of the Smurfs were flanderized into hating Brainy and don't care about him at all. Brainy himself was no better, with his intelligence level dropping when it comes to time crystals. The doppelganger villains are uncreative, the stories were predictable and tiresome with unfunny jokes, bad puns and cheesy one-liners. And seventeen Smurfs in time travel were the result of NBC's undoing.
Hanna-Barbera had nothing to do with the suggestion, they still did a fine job with character designs and storyboards. Peyo, on the other hand, lost grasp of the characters by this point and lent creative freedom to the studio, which wasn't a good idea. Some of the running gags got old pretty quickly, such as Brainy being thrown out of places that aren't the Smurf Village and/or his punishments taken to extremes.
What are your thoughts on Season 9?

The only thing it did for me was inspire The Lost Year period in the EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf series. Other than that, I regard that season as fanon discontinuity.

To be honest, Season 9 wasn't the best season, I think the plot line they did is what ultimately led to it being cancelled. I think the writers could've done better.
