There has been a long-time unsureness of who did the voice acting for Brainy Smurf on the North American cartoon series.

Danny Goldman was always more well known and associated with the voice.

But the name Barry Gordon kept popping up with 'the voice of Brainy' during those same 9 seasons.

You would see both names (or one or the other) on various websites regarding the series, and even official DVD/VHS video coverslips.

So the question was, who was the real voice actor...or did they share the duty? And if so, which episodes, seasons, or years did each do? Or was one only called upon when the other couldn't do it, and therefore, filled in?

Well, the confusion is finally over. There was an interview with Barry Gordon and the recorded interview was put online. He confirmed he has NEVER voiced the voice of Brainy, and the only voice actor for that character was Danny Goldman.

He goes on to say that he only did GUEST voice acting the odd time on the Smurfs and that's it. So probably non-main characters.

Barry Gordon only ever did voice work in 2 episodes:

The Grouchiest Game in Town (1985) ... The Gamemaster (voice)

Stuck on Smurfs/Puppy (1985) ... Additional Voices (voice)
