Greetings, fellow Smurfs and smurfers! This morning I had this new story idea that came up that takes after the classic sci-fi film "Fantastic Voyage" involving a micro-mission into Brainy Smurf's bloodstream. [Big Grin]

Smurftastic Voyage - Smurfroot is a very rare plant that was used in the base for the True Blue Spell to transform Smurfette, Sassette and the Naughties into true Smurfs. Even more rare is a crystallized form of smurfroot sap, which resembles a chunk of chocolate. Papa Smurf has a small chunk of the rare material for an important project. When Greedy comes into the lab to share his a fresh batch of chocolate fudge bars, Papa Smurf, Smurfette and Brainy devour it. Wanting more, Brainy takes one last chunk sitting on the countertop. A little while later, Papa asks for the smurfroot crystal, and Brainy remembers the last fudge he ate tasted kind of sour... [Eek!] [Big Grin]

It's too late to make Brainy spit it out, as it's long been digested into his system. Crystallized smurfroot sap is very rare and valuable for specific magical uses, so Papa resorts to magic, as well as medicine, to undo Brainy's blunder. He plans to use Handy Smurf's submarine, now mothballed in his storage shed, and four brave Smurfs to retrieve what's left of the smurfroot crystal by magically shrinking them to microscopic size for one hour, be injected into Brainy's blood vessels, and try to find whatever crystal molecules are floating about before they unshrink back to normal. Hefty, Gutsy, Smurfette and Vexy are chosen for the mission. Little Snappy and Sassette Smurfling want to go too, thinking shrinking to a "teeny-weeny-itty-bitty size" would be a lot of fun, but of course they are ignored. They sneak into the sub when nosmurf is looking, but get trapped in a cabinet that opens only from the outside. [Sassette Smurfling]

Once the Smurfs are inside the sub, Papa throws a powder on the sub's hull, says "Hocus pocus micro-smurfus!" and the sub slowly zaps away to nothing--seemingly--as a tiny yellow light floats up and into a Petri dish full of fluid that is ultimately injected into Brainy's arm. [Astro Smurf]

Once inside Brainy's bloodstream, the now Micro-Smurfs communicate with Papa and Handy through a two-way radio, whose signal also pinpoints their exact location in Brainy's body. When Gutsy opens up a cabinet to get the team's scuba suits for exploring outside the sub, out tumble Sassette and Snappy! They're excited that they've been shrunken to microscopic size, but are micro-disciplined by made to sit in the corner. [Big Grin]

In the bloodstream float bright glowing blue clouds--it's Smurf essence. When the sub smurfs through a cloud, the essence's powerful magic properties wreak havoc with Smurfette and Vexy by making them randomly switch back and forth between their old evil appearances and their normal Smurf selves. They remain good and smurfy on the inside, but they have no control over the morphing and it causes no small frustration. [Smurfette] [Mad]

They eventually find a few particles of smurfroot crystal and load it into the sub's cargo bay. With only ten minutes left to go, they make a beeline toward Brainy's eyeballs and turn on a light that makes the sub glow brightly for the other Smurfs to locate and safely retrieve them from the surface of Brainy's eye. They are picked up with only a minute to spare, but the sub starts growing while still in an eyedropper, ultimately landing on the floor and crashing through the front wall of the storage shed.

Along with the sub and Smurfs, the tiny molecules of smurfroot crystal grows with them, into a nice healthy chunk of crystallized sap. It's more than enough for Papa Smurf's project, and with enough to share among his wizard friends. When asked by Brainy what the crystal could be used for, Papa Smurf says that it can be used with water from Forbidden Falls to create stable smurfportation crystals, be added to the True Blue Spell, make a smurfy ointment for aching joints... and be a smurfy good chocolate substitute. [yum!] At that last mention, Brainy suddenly gets queasy and runs out of the shed. [Big Grin]

Any thoughts on this little story (pun intended)?

Vexy is still my favorite Smurf. Tomboys need love, too. :)

It's a tiny masterpiece! What a fun story. I was a little squirmy about Brainy's eyeballs though... but that's always a fun part of a good sci-fi!

I better double check the next time I eat a chunk of chocolate!!!

[Cool]

Thanks, Sassette! I've seen the original movie "Fantastic Voyage" twice, and the voyagers climb the surface of the patient's eyeball to leave his body and unshrink back to normal because their sub was destroyed by aggressive white blood cells. I add a comical touch with my Smurf version of that ending by having the still-intact Smurf sub immediately smurf toward Brainy's eyes because they are close to the eye vessels and makes an easy extraction from Brainy's body by being safely picked up with an eyedropper.

When Doctor Smurf tells Brainy to hold still because he can see the tiny glowing sub, Brainy replies "So do eye, Doc! So do eye!" [Big Grin]
