Topic: The Easter Smurfettes: A Special Easter Fanfic Story

Recently I posted on DeviantArt a one-off drawing called The Easter Smurfettes, where Smurfette tricks Vexy into wearing an outrageously girly Easter outfit--a humiliating development for the proud tomboy and rebel. Smurf fans and followers of my account were asking how Vex would get her revenge since she promised to kill her (not literally of course), so a one-off became a short series.
Here's the story as it appears in my DA gallery:
Part 1: The Setup Vexy hates that Easter dress, bonnet, stockings, high heels and especially those dainty lace gloves. And I don't blame her. Smurfette promised to dress up the same way, but showed up in a nice, safe Easter Bunny costume instead. Smurfette vexed Vexy. ![[Smurfette]](graemlins/smurfette.gif)
Part 2: Revenge After the Easter Egg Hunt, Smurfette is ready to take off that hot, perspiring Easter Bunny costume, but all her dresses are gone! You can't vex Vexy and get away with it, especially with a Smurf as sour and grouchy as she is! ![[Wink]](wink.gif)
Part 3: Resolution and Love Vexy shows a terrified Smurfette her dresses were safe all along and revenge is sweet. Sweeter and smurfier, though, is Smurfette's affirmation of the prankish Vex as her beloved sister and the greatest Easter present of all.
Part 4 will be posted tomorrow (April 15) or so. I hope you like this cute little Easter story and celebration of sisterhood.
And by the way, would anyone be interested in a Vexy Graemlin? (With black hair, of course.)

And as promised, here is the final part of The Easter Smurfettes:
Part 4: The Big Parade Now that they've reconciled and affirmed their sisterly love, Smurfette and Vexy are all dressed up in their finest to take part in the big Smurf Village Easter Parade, which is Vexy's first. Joining them are Little Squeaky in a cute Easter bonnet of her own, Sassette holding her adopted aunty's hand, and Grouchy proudly walking arm-in-arm with Vex. I just got finished with my EMPATH: The Luckiest Smurf Easter fanfiction story that takes place during the Smurfs' time-traveling adventures in The Lost Year...notably it's at the time when they see Jesus during the week leading up to His crucifixion and resurrection.

What a smurfy story, Rich! Vexy really knew to get back at Smurfette very smartly. And it was great seeing Grouchy Smurf parading with her, Smurfette, Sassette and Little Squeaky.
It even reminded me this...
Grouchy (I HATE singing... sometimes!):
"In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it,
You'll be the smurfiest lady in the Easter parade.
I'll be all in clover and when they smurf you over,
I'll be the proudest Smurf in the Easter parade.
On the avenue, Smurfth avenue, Photographer will snap us,

I'm glad you like the story, Squeaky! I came up with the idea earlier this month. Since Easter is a time when women and girls traditionally dress up their finest and smartest for egg hunts and church services, I thought of how funny it would be to have the proud tomboy Vexy dressed up in something that would personally make her regurgitate. (Poor thing.)
And from the responses I got on DeviantArt, many Smurf fans think it's a good story. Quite a few loved the playful revenge Vexy got on Smurfette for being tricked into dressing up.
And I too was thinking of Irving Berlin's "Easter Parade" as I drew the final panel. The annual Easter Bonnet Festival and Parade in New York City that inspired the song is still held each Easter Sunday, with bonnets ranging from the cute and adorable to the outrageously silly.

Thanks, Smurfy1For2! The completed story has received quite a few smurfy likes and comments on my DeviantArt page, with many writing they love Vexy's Easter dress. When I designed her outfit I meant it to be "outrageously girly" and completely out of character for her mischevous tomboy nature, but instead she's been described as refined and stylish, as well as cute.
It's been a lot of fun reading those comments, wondering how Vexy would get her revenge on Smurfette, whether or not she would really burn Smurfette's dresses, squeals and "awwwww's" over Smurfette's affirmation and love for her new sister, and of course the final drawing. This has been the most satisfying fan story I've done so far based on the feedback.
I might make another fan story in the pipeline, A Smurfette is Born (A retelling of "The Smurfette" by Smurfette herself in flashback to Clumsy, Vexy and Sassette), in the same format, an illustrated e-storybook, and make it understandable to the young readers.
